AR Rahman Chennai Concert Fiasco: ACTC Events Issues Apology, Urge People To Not Target The Music Maestro
Music maestro A.R. Rahman’s concert ‘Marakkumma Nenjam’ in Chennai on Sunday has been criticised heavily for mismanagement and chaos that happened during the event.
New Delhi: Music maestro A.R. Rahman’s concert ‘Marakkumma Nenjam’ in Chennai on Sunday has been criticised heavily for mismanagement and chaos that happened during the event. Now the event organiser, ACTC Events has issued a statement and tendered an unconditional apology for all those who faced problems during the concert.
The CEO of the company, Hemanth Raja took to Instagram and shared a video apologising and taking full responsibility for the mismanagement. He also urged people to not blame AR Rahman for the incident. He said in the video, “Our goal was to guarantee an unforgettable night of Rahman sir’s songs for his fans. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, many couldn’t access the venue. We accept full responsibility for this and are accountable.”
Requesting the fans to not blame Rahman he said, “He is not one to blame. It's completely our mistake. Don't spread negativity about him. He did his job one hundred percent and the majority were enjoyed, but we failed. We take full responsibility.”

Raja also said that they didn’t oversell tickets and the situation arose due to ticket duplication and overcrowding. He also said that they would be providing refunds to all those who were not allowed to enter the premises despite having tickets.
Earlier, a day after the event, the company had tweeted, “Grateful to Chennai and the legendary @arrahman Sir! The incredible response, and the overwhelming crowd made our show a massive success. Those who couldn’t attend on overcrowding, Our sincere apologies. We take full responsibility and accountability. We are with you. #MarakkumaNenjam”
The concert was conducted at Adityaram Palace in Chennai, with nearly 50,000 people attending. The attendees had all complained about the pitiful mismanagement of crowding, complaining to the Academy Award winning musician, with many demanding a refund. Many fans could not make an entry to the programme venue despite buying tickets for Rs 2000 and had complained that the show was oversold.
