After Priyanka Chopra, Alia Bhatt's Name Added To Blackout List 2024 After Met Gala For Silence On Gaza Crisis

Alia Bhatt's name is now on the Blackout 2024 list, which also features names of other global personalities like Taylor Swift and Priyanka Chopra.

New Delhi: Alia Bhatt's Met Gala 2024 look was a global affair. Alia's stunning appearances at global events has made her fans proud. However, Alia's global popularity has hit a roadblock. Alia Bhatt's name is now on the Blackout 2024 list, which also features names of other global personalities like Taylor Swift and Priyanka Chopra.

Alia Bhatt has found herself in the middle of a controversy for her alleged silence on the current situation in Gaza. This has come after her appearance in a stunning Sabyasachi saree at this year's Met Gala on May 6. Bhatt followed the grand look with another internactional outing that turned that many heads: the Gucci Cruise Show 2025 in London on May 13.

Alia has been called 'complicit' for her inaction and not driving enough attention towards the ongoing Israel-Gaza conflict.

Other celebrities in the blocklist include Priyanka Chopra, Virat Kohli, Kim Kardashian, Taylor Swift, Beyonce, Kylie Jenner, Zendaya, Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande, Demi Lovato, Kanye West, Zac Efron, Kevin Jonas, Nick Jonas, Justin Timberlake, Katy Perry, and more.

The Blackout 2024 movement began on social media a few months ago. The trend has been gaining traction on platforms like Tik Tok where users called out celebrities for not raising their voice on Israel's attacks on Gaza.

After the Met Gala 2024, the blackout list garnered more traction as netizens began sharing lists of blocked celebrities on different social media platforms.

The boycott attempts to bring these celebrities to the forefront where they can use their voice for a better purpose, like advocacy and urging calls for ceasefire between both nations.

This is also a digital protest where people across social media platforms are deliberately blocking celebrities for their silence on an important international topic and in some cases, their alleged backing of the conflict.

On the other hand, several celebrities have also taken a stand in the Israel-Gaza conflict. Actors such as Mark Ruffali, Ramy Youssef and John Cusack are among the many who have spoken against the war. Maheshala Ali, Billie Eilish, Finneas O'Connell recently wore red pins on the red carpet, signifying their reprot for Artists4Ceasefire at this year's Oscars ceremony.
