Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan team up after 17 years for a gripping thriller directed by Priyadarshan. The film starts shooting in August 2025 and releases in 2026.

Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan are all set to recreate their on-screen camaraderie after 17 long years. The iconic duo will star in a gripping, edge-of-the-seat thriller directed by renowned filmmaker Priyadarshan, according to a report by HT City.

Akshay and Saif collaboration

“Akshay and Saif have always enjoyed working together and have great mutual admiration for each other’s craft. The moment they read the script, they knew they were on board,” revealed a source close to the development.

Shedding light on the project, the source added, “It’s a nail-biting and thoroughly entertaining thriller. Directed by Priyadarshan, the film will keep audiences hooked from start to finish.”

The film is scheduled to go on floors in August 2025 and is slated for a theatrical release in 2026.

Akshay and Saif's previous films together

Akshay and Saif were last seen together in the 2008 film Tashan. The duo has previously shared screen space in several popular films including the cult classic 'Main Khiladi Tu Anari' (1994), 'Yeh Dillagi' (1994), 'Tu Chor Main Sipahi' (1996), and 'Keemat' (1998), all of which cemented their status as a fan-favorite jodi of the ’90s.

Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar is currently working with Priyadarshan on another upcoming project titled 'Bhoot Bangla'. This film marks their reunion after a 14-year hiatus.

In addition, Akshay and Priyadarshan are also collaborating on the much-awaited 'Hera Pheri 3'. Speaking about the project, Akshay told HT, “Priyam sir has given all of us a fabulous surprise by offering to direct 'Hera Pheri 3'. What a fantastic start to 2025!”

About Saif Ali Khan

Saif Ali Khan has carved a unique niche for himself in Indian cinema over the past three decades. Starting his career in the early ’90s with romantic dramas like 'Aashiq Awara' and 'Yeh Dillagi', Saif initially built his image as a charming, urban hero. However, it was his reinvention in the 2000s that truly showcased his versatility—with standout performances in films like 'Dil Chahta Hai', 'Omkara', and 'Parineeta'. Saif has continually taken risks, from playing complex anti-heroes to experimenting with dark comedies and web series like 'Sacred Games', proving he's more than just a Bollywood prince—he's an actor unafraid of reinvention.

About Akshay Kumar

Akshay Kumar, known as Bollywood’s original action hero, has evolved into one of India’s most bankable and prolific stars. With a career spanning over 30 years, Akshay began with martial arts-driven action films like 'Khiladi' and 'Mohra', but quickly diversified into comedy ('Hera Pheri', 'Mujhse Shaadi Karogi'), drama (Airlift, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha), and patriotic cinema (Kesari, Mission Mangal). Known for his discipline and back-to-back releases, Akshay has also earned a reputation for choosing socially relevant and commercially viable projects, striking a balance between entertainment and message-driven storytelling.
