Abhijeet Bhattacharya And His Son Upset Over Lack of Credit After Dua Lipa's Levitating-Woh Ladki Mashup Performance

While Dua Lipa's Levitating-Woh Ladki Jo mashup performance went viral, it also sparked dissatisfaction for singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya, the voice behind Woh Ladki Jo, and his son Jay Bhattacharya.

Dua Lipa enthralled Indian fans in Mumbai on Saturday. Among the night’s most talked-about moments was her unexpected mashup of her hit track Levitating with Shah Rukh Khan’s iconic song Woh Ladki Jo from the movie Baadshah.

However, while the performance won hearts worldwide, it also sparked dissatisfaction closer to home. Singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya, the voice behind Woh Ladki Jo, and his son Jay Bhattacharya expressed their disappointment over the lack of acknowledgment for Abhijeet’s contribution to the beloved track.

Abhijeet's son Jay expresses disappointment

Jay Bhattacharya took to Instagram to highlight how the media coverage surrounding Dua Lipa’s mashup failed to credit his father. Sharing his frustration, he posted, “The problem is that no one talks about it. What happened to Woh ladki jo - Abhijeet? Unfortunately, we live in a country where not one news outlet or Instagram page has mentioned the VOICE and the artist of this song. Why has it always been about actors in this country? I’m sure when Dua Lipa heard this song she must’ve heard it and not seen it and appreciated the man that has sung this song and yes, it is not SRK. It is Abhijeet Bhattacharya and composed by Anu Malik.”

Abhijeet also reposted Jay's posts

Abhijeet himself reshared Jay’s posts, adding his own voice to the conversation. Another note shared by him read, “Song is hit and popular because of legends like Abhijeet & Anu Malik!!”

Jay also posted a clip of Dua Lipa’s performance, and wrote, “My father does his riyaaz every morning and works hard every day to go out there and perform songs live on stage every day for his fans since last 35 years. Show some respect.”

This isn’t the first time Abhijeet has aired grievances about not receiving adequate credit for his contributions. In the past, he has often highlighted how singers in Bollywood are overlooked, with attention focused primarily on actors.
