"Ayan has more or less written the script for the entire Trilogy before he started shooting Brahmastra Part 1. Now he needs to fine-tune Brahmastra Part 2: Dev..."
New Delhi: As 'Brahmastra' continues to create a box-office havoc in the country, it seems like the filmmakers have decided to start working on the Part 2 of the film. According to a Bollywood Hungama report, Brahmastra - Part 2 Dev will go on floors by the end of 2022 or the beginning of 2023. The Ayan Mukerji directorial stars Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Nagarjuna, Amitabh Bachchan and Mouni Roy.
A source close to the publication said, "Ayan has more or less written the script for the entire Trilogy before he started shooting Part 1. Now he needs to fine-tune Part 2, make it more racy and perhaps accentuate the plot points which have been liked in the first part. Karan Johar (the producer of the Trilogy) and his co-producers Fox-Star are keen to kick-off Part 2 sooner rather than later. Ayan wants to take a break before getting into Part 2. But it looks like he won’t be allowed any respite.”
Despite the Boycott trend, 'Brahmastra' is unstoppable at the box office. After earning Rs 121 crore at the Indian box office over the weekend, the film has passed the Monday test with flying colours and has reportedly collected Rs 16.25 crore on day four of release - Rs 14.25 crore from the Hindi market, and another Rs 2 crore from other languages. The film has earned Rs 135 crore so far at the Indian box office, according to Pinkvilla.
Going by its box office performance, the film is expected to do an opening week of around Rs. 175 crores and enter Rs. 200 crore club by Sunday. Brahmastra is headed towards Rs 250 cr nett India mark.
On Monday, Dharma Production shared that the film had grossed Rs 225 crore over the weekend, a number that has also been disputed. There have been discrepancies in the box office numbers of the film as the production house and few trade analysts are sharing gross collection, while others are sharing the nett collection of the film.
'Brahmastra' was also the number one movie at the global box office during the weekend. This is the first time ever a Bollywood film has topped the worldwide box office charts and the third for any Indian film, all three happening in the last two years. Prior to Brahmastra, Vijay starrer Master and S.S. Rajamouli directed NTR Jr. and Ram Charan starrer 'RRR' were the ones to achieve this feat.
Well, if at all the second part Dev is in the making, it will be exciting to hear the cast news and who will be essaying the role of Dev and Amrita in Part 2, or Shiva ( Ranbir Kapoor's character)'s parents.
