Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan Reunite After 17 Years for Thriller Titled Haiwaan

Bollywood actors Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan are reuniting for an upcoming thriller titled Haiwaan, directed by Priyadarshan. The shoot begins in August 2025.

A major cinematic reunion is on the cards as Bollywood stars Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan prepare to headline a high-octane thriller directed by veteran filmmaker Priyadarshan. Although the film has yet to begin production, the buzz surrounding the project is already gaining momentum, especially now that the title has been revealed.

A source close to the development told HT City that the film has been officially titled 'Haiwaan', which means ‘beast’ in English. “The team felt this describes their subject the best, and conveys exactly how Priyadarshan sees it— as an edge-of-the-seat thriller. There were other titles in contention, but this one clicked unanimously, given the characters the lead actors play,” the source said.

The title hints at a dark, gripping narrative, matching the intense roles both Akshay and Saif are set to portray. The collaboration between the trio, Akshay, Saif, and Priyadarshan, adds an extra layer of excitement, given their individual legacies in the film industry.

Saif & Akshay collab post Tashan

This marks the first time Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan will share the screen since their last outing in 2008’s 'Tashan'. The reunion, long anticipated by fans, brings back memories of their earlier on-screen camaraderie, promising a blend of action, thrill, and drama. The shoot is expected to commence in August, with a theatrical release lined up for 2026.

Busy Schedules for Both Stars

Both lead actors are keeping their plates full. Akshay Kumar recently completed shooting for Bhooth Bangla, also helmed by Priyadarshan. Meanwhile, Saif Ali Khan was last seen in Jewel Thief, further solidifying his foray into intense, character-driven roles.

With Haiwaan, the pairing of Kumar and Khan under Priyadarshan’s direction is poised to deliver a gripping cinematic experience. The wait now begins for more updates as filming kicks off next month.
