New Delhi: Launching a vitriolic attack on the family-oriented political parties, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said vote bank politics and ‘parivaarvadi’ has caused damage to the nation.
Taking on the opposition, Prime Minister Modi alleged that these leaders encouraged politics of vote bank and appeasement.
“This politics of vote bank and appeasement has taken these leaders hostage. Vote bank politics has now become their compulsion,” Prime Minister Modi said addressing a rally in Amethi.
“Even today, their decisions are based on vote bank politics. Even if this decision is against the interest of the country, these leaders do not hesitate in taking that decision. They are worried about vote bank not the country,” he added.
Prime Minister Modi said family politics also causes a lot of damage to the country.
“In family politics, the head of the party is from the family, all the important posts are held by the people of the same family. The claim on important posts belongs to the members of the same family,” he said.
Continuing his outburst, Prime Minister Modi said the family-oriented political parties insult the Constitution.
“The family-oriented political parties harm our young talent. Whereas in the BJP, there is one president today and someone else tomorrow. The BJP is not and can never be a private party of fathers and sons,” he added.
Prime Minister Modi further said the people of Amethi know it very well that the family-oriented political parties do not belong to anyone.
“The people of Amethi and Sultanpur know that the family members are so far away from the ground reality that they do not even see what is happening on the ground,” he added.
Prime Minister Modi said that this has happened after years when the Chief Minister is not accused of corruption.
Prime Minister Modi further said it is after a long time in Uttar Pradesh that a party is seeking votes on the basis of development and works done in the interest of the poor.
“Years later, this has happened when the government of UP is seeking votes on the improved law and order situation,” he added.
Reaching out to the farmers, Prime Minister Modi said: “February 24 is a special day in my life. Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi has completed three years today. When we started this scheme in 2019, many people were spreading rumours and confusion. But whatever works we do, we do it honestly.”
“The money under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi is going directly in the farmers’ bank accounts. The farmers of Amethi have got more than Rs 450 crore directly in their bank accounts courtesy this scheme. The farmers of Sultanpur have received more than Rs 430 crore,” he added.
Prime Minister Modi said that he never thought in his life to enter the political battlefield.
“I became the MLA for the first time 20 years ago on February 24. The people of Rajkot blessed me and this process of service started,” said Prime Minister Modi.
“By becoming a servant of the people, the resolve to work for them has become stronger with every day. This service spirit is the identity of the BJP,” he added.
Prime Minister Modi also used the occasion to highlight his government’s fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
“The Covid-19 vaccine has given strength to every citizen of the country. Due to this, the shops are open today, the business is open and schools and colleges are open,” he said.
Prime Minister Modi said the people across the nation have seen the attitude of these family members regarding the vaccine.
“When the vaccination started, Modi himself did not run to get the vaccine first. We first gave a chance to the people associated with the health service, the sanitation workers, the elderly and the people suffering from serious illness to get the vaccines,” Prime Minister Modi said.
“Had these family members been in the government, they would have got the vaccine first by breaking all the lines,” he added.
Prime Minister Modi said that his government has initiated steps to ensure the end of land mafia in Uttar Pradesh.
“We are giving you a solid legal document of your house and land by preparing it with the help of technology,” he added.
Voting for the 403-member Uttar Pradesh Assembly is being held in seven phases from February 10 to March 7.
The counting of votes will be held on March 10.
