Tripura Assembly Election: 'BJP To Win More Than 50 Seats, It Will Be A Tsunami', Says CM Manik Saha

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will address five election rallies in Tripura on Wednesday

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Wednesday expressed confidence that BJP will win more than 50 seats in the Assembly elections to be held on February 16. Saha made the statement during his interaction with the voters in a door-to-door campaign in the state.

“You can see smile on people’s faces. Our aim is to stand by the people & address their issues. We want to bring development to Tripura. BJP will win more than 50 seats, it will be a Tsunami,” said Saha, according to the news agency ANI.

"None of the CMs so far has ever interacted with us like this so I felt really happy. This is my first vote & I’m very happy," Suryangni Chakravorthy, a first-time voter told ANI.

The election campaign in the state is in full swing. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will address five election rallies in Tripura on Wednesday, a BJP leader said, according to the PTI report.

Adityanath will address rallies in Unakoti district's Fatikroy, Suryamaninagar in West Tripura and Mohanpur School ground in West Tripura district, he said. On Tuesday too, Singh and Adityanath had addressed election rallies in support of BJP candidates in the state.

On Monday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha held a roadshow from ‘Ashram Chowmuhani’ to ‘Chowmuhani Mode’ at Banmalipur in Agartala.

The Home Minister pointed out that the massive crowd that turned out for the roadshow and public meetings is a testimony of the support the BJP enjoys from the people of the state.

Earlier on Monday, Shah came down heavily on the CPI(M) and the Congress in poll-bound Tripura, saying that both the parties disregarded the interests of the people.

Apart from Tripura, Assembly elections will be held in Nagaland and Meghalaya on February 27, with the counting of votes scheduled for March 2.

While the term of the Nagaland Assembly ends on March 12, the terms of the Meghalaya and Tripura assemblies end on March 15 and March 22 respectively. The three state assemblies have a strength of 60 members each.
