UP Election 2022: SP-RLD Alliance Announces First List Of 29 Candidates

Samajwadi Party Candidate List 2022: All these seats fall in western region of Uttar Pradesh and will go to polls in the first phase on February 10.

New Delhi: The Samajwadi Party-Rashtriya Lok Dal alliance announced its first list of 29 candidates for the first phase of Uttar Pradesh Assembly election on Thursday.

The announcement came hours after Congress released its first list of 125 candidates.

The SP has fielded candidates on 10 seats and the RLD on 19. ABP News was the first to report that the Akhilesh Yadav-led SP and RLD's Jayant Chaudhary had finalised the seat-sharing formula on January 11.

The SP has fielded Kunwar Singh from Agra Cantt, Madhusudan Sharma from Bah, Amarpal Sharma from Sahibabad, Aslam Chaudhary from Dhaulana, Salman Saeed from Kol, Zafar Alam from Aligarh, Nahid Hassan from Kairana, Pankaj Malik from Charthawal, Shahid Manzoor from Kithaur and Rafeeq Ansari from Meerut.

The RLD has fielded Pradeep Chaudhary (Guddu) from Sadabad, Tejpal Singh from Chhata, Pritam Singh from Govardhan, Mahesh Kumar Jatav from Agra (Rural), Sikri Brijesh Chahar from Fatehpur, Rautan Singh from Khairagarh, Sudesh Sharma from Modinagar, and Madan Bhaiyya from Loni.

The RLD has also fielded Gajraj Singh from Hapur, Avtar Singh Bhadana from Jewar, Haji Yunus from Bulandshahr, Dilnawaz Khan from Syana, Bhagwati Prasad Suryavanshi from Khair, Prasann Chudhary from Shamli, Anil Kumar from Purqazi, Rajpal Singh Saini from Khatauli, Munshi Ram from Nahtaur and Ahmad Hameed from Baghpat.

Of the 29 candidates, Babita Devi of the RLD is the lone woman nominee in the list. She will contest from Baldev assembly constituency.

Of the seats, Agra Rural, Agra Cantt, Baldev, Khair, Purqazi and Hapur are reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates.

Polls In Western UP To Be Keenly Watched

All these seats fall in western region of Uttar Pradesh and will go to polls in the first phase on February 10. The election results will be announced on March 10.

Polls in the western UP region will be keenly watched amid discontentment within the farming community with the ruling BJP.

Most of the seats in this region are with the BJP presently. Western UP has a sizeable population of farmers and they had participated in the agitation against farm laws on Delhi borders.
