Gehlot Govt Focused On Progress, BJP Policies Only For Rich: Priyanka Gandhi In Poll-Bound Rajasthan

Priyanka Gandhi alleged that PM Modi goes abroad and strikes deals for his “industrialist friends”.

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi on Sunday trained guns on the Bharatiya Janata Party saying that the Gehlot government in Rajasthan focused on the progress of the people whereas the saffron party made policies only for the rich. Addressing a public rally in Rajasthan’s Tonk, Gandhi said, "Ashok Gehlot government has only focussed on the progress of the people. On the other hand, BJP's policies are only for the rich, they do not have anything for the poor and middle class."

She alleged that PM Modi goes abroad and strikes deals for his “industrialist friends”.

“BJP's policies are for the rich, not the poor,” she added.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, who was also present at the event, said, "We are giving pensions to the poor people in the state. It seems people have now made up their mind to repeat the (Congress) government."

The 200-member Rajasthan Assembly is slated to undergo polls this year along with Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, and Mizoram.

In a recent ABP News CVoter survey a majority of respondents from among a cross-section of voters nodded in the affirmative when asked if the Congress general secretary should mark her electoral foray against the BJP’s biggest poll mascot from the prestigious Varanasi Lok Sabha seat next year.

As per the survey, 39.6 per cent of the respondents, including both the NDA and Opposition voters, said Priyanka should contest against PM Modi from the prized seat next year.

However, 36.7 per cent of the respondents opined against the Congress pitting an electoral greenhorn against the BJP stalwart.

As much as 44.3 per cent of the Opposition voters surveyed spoke in favour of the Congress general secretary contesting against Prime Minister Modi while a further 31.8 per cent voters opined that she should not risk marking her electoral debut against the sitting Varanasi MP.
