'PM Modi Troubled By Having To...': Arvind Kejriwal In Rajasthan Pitches For ‘One Nation, 20 Elections’
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in Rajasthan's Jaipur criticised the concept of 'One Nation, One Election,' suggesting that elections should be held more frequently to ensure accountability.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal kicked off Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)'s campaign for the upcoming Rajasthan assembly election during his visit to Jaipur on Monday. During his speech, Kejriwal criticised the concept of 'One Nation, One Election,' suggesting that elections should be held more frequently to ensure accountability. He stated, "There should be an election every third month. Otherwise, they (BJP) will not show their faces for five years if 'one nation, one election' gets implemented."
Kejriwal also slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying, "I feel sad that even after being the Prime Minister for nine years, PM Modi is asking for votes on 'One Nation, One Election.' If One Nation, 1000 elections happen, what do we have to do with it? What will you get from it? Even after being the Prime Minister for nine years, if someone asks for votes on 'One Nation, One Election,' it means that he has not done any work. It should be 'One Nation, One Education'... 'One Nation, One Treatment'."
He further added, "Elections are held in our country every six months. PM Modi is troubled by the fact that he has to go to the public every six months. If elections are held once in five years, then the cylinder will be available for Rs. 5000, and after five years, PM Modi will say that he has reduced it by Rs. 200."
Kejriwal went on to suggest that there should be more frequent elections, "I have a demand that there should be one nation 20 elections, there should be elections every third month... they will at least come to show their face."
He also presented some key promises if AAP is voted to power in Rajasthan, including the waiver of all previous electricity bills, ensuring 24-hour electricity supply, and providing quality and free education to children. Kejriwal also emphasised, "AAP is an honest, patriotic party. We are dedicated towards the nation."
In contrast to 'One Nation, One Election,' Kejriwal reiterated his remarks delivered in Haryana to suggest that 'One Nation, One Education' could be a more meaningful focus for the country's progress.
