MP Election Results: BJP's 'Kamal' Prevails Over Kamal Nath With Victory In 163 Of 230 Seats
The BJP, whose campaign was spearheaded by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Union Minister Jyotiradtiya Scindia, handed a resounded defeat to Congress.
Madhya Pradesh Election Result 2023: The BJP on Sunday recorded their second biggest win in Madya Pradesh by bagging a staggering 163 of 230 seats. The party's biggest-ever win came in 2003 when the saffron party won 173 seats.
The BJP, whose campaign was spearheaded by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Union Minister Jyotiradtiya Scindia, handed a resounded defeat to Congress.
As per the official tally, the Congress has won 66 seats out of the total of 230 constituencies.
Speaking on the BJP's victory, MP CM said "I want to thank the people of the state for this unexceptional victory in the Assembly elections. This is the victory of the efforts of PM Modi and the developmental works done by the double-engine government. Our party workers have worked day and night for the victory of the BJP. Under the leadership of PM Modi, the double-engine govt has done a miracle. I want to thank PM Modi, Amit Shah and our party president JP Nadda for guiding us throughout the election campaign."

In Budhni, Shivraj Singh Chouhan won for the fifth time in a row, and this year, he defeated Congress rival and TV actor Vikram Mastal by a huge margin of 1,04,974 votes.

Former MP CM Kamal Nath won from the Chhindwara seat for the second time, defeating BJP's Vivek Bunty Sahu by a margin of 36,594 votes. He has been a nine-time Congress MP from here and won his maiden assembly polls in May 2019 after becoming CM in December 2018.
In Indore-1, BJP's Kailash Vijayvargiya defeated Congress' sitting MLA Sanjay Shukla by 57,939 votes.
Meanwhile, in Narsingpur, BJP’s OBC Champion Prahlad Singh Patel defeated Congress rival Lakhan Singh Patel by a margin of 31,310.
How Congress And BJP Fared In 2018 Assembly Elections?
In the 2018 assembly elections, the Congress won 114 seats to form a government, while the BJP was restricted to 109.
The Bharatiya Janata Party won the assembly elections in 2003 under Uma Bharti. The party scored victories in subsequent contests in 2008 and 2013 but lost to Congress in 2018. The BJP remained out of power from December 2018 to March 2020 when Congress leader Kamal Nath became chief minister.
However, the saffron party returned to power in March 2020 under Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who became the chief minister for the first time in 2005. He went on to become the longest-serving chief minister in the state.
