MP Byelections: After Congress's Complaint Against Poll Officials, BJP Takes 'Loot Express' Dig
Madhya Pradesh Assembly Speaker Narendra Singh Tomar has said that Ramniwas Rawat's switch from the Congress to the BJP in Vijaypur was for development and asked voters to support him in the bypoll.
Madhya Pradesh Assembly Speaker Narendra Singh Tomar has voiced his support for BJP candidate Ramniwas Rawat in the upcoming Vijaypur by-election. He urged voters to back Rawat to expedite development in the Vijaypur Assembly constituency. At a public meeting on Tuesday, Tomar asked locals to choose Rawat over the Congress, which he labelled the "Loot Express", reported news agency PTI. He emphasised that Rawat’s leadership would foster growth and improvement in the area.
Scheduled for November 13, the Vijaypur byelection in Sheopur district was necessitated after Rawat a Congress turncoat resigned and switched to the BJP before the Lok Sabha elections this year, which the BJP dominated in the state. Rawat currently holds the Forest portfolio.
Tomar said the BJP is fully committed to public welfare and said that Rawat's switch to the BJP was only to take up local development. "Our candidate is on the path of progress. I urge the community to avoid falling for the Congress's ‘Loot Express’ and to trust Rawat's leadership for a better future," Tomar said.
Congress Seeks Removal Of Vijaypur, Budhni Polling Officials
Earlier this week, the Congress sought the removal of several Vijaypur and Budhni polling officials. Bodh the assembly seats are going to bypolls on November 13.
In a complaint to the EC, the Congress said Vijaypur assembly electoral officer Uday Singh Sikarwar was aligned with the BJP. According to a TOI report, the Congress said that Sikarwar was removed from election duty earlier as well. As such, he should not be appointed for poll duties again.
Congress leader JP Dhanopia further alleged that the sector officials in Budhni had been there for two-three years. The sector officer looks after the affairs of 10-12 polling stations. The Congress claimed that the officials were now working under the BJP's influence. The Congress also alleged that the sector officers were not fair and transparent in their work.
