New Delhi: Famous Punjabi singer Daler Mehndi on Friday joined the Bharatiya Janata Party at its Delhi office. The singer joined the party in the presence of Delhi BJP chief Manoj Tiwari and Union minister Vijay Goel.

BJP's candidate from northwest Delhi constituency Hans Raj Hans, Union minister and Chandni Chowk candidate Harsh Vardhan and other party leaders were also present at the Delhi unit office.

Mehndi's daughter is married to a son of Hans. Earlier, the Bharatiya Janata Party had announced singer Hans Raj Hans' candidature from North-West Delhi, hours before the deadline for filing of nomination.

On Tuesday, Bollywood actor Sunny Deol joined the Bharatiya Janta Party in presence of Union Ministers Piyush Goyal and Nirmala Sitharaman. After joining the BJP in Delhi on April 23, Deol had said, "Whatever I can do for this family (BJP), I will do it. I won't talk, I will show you through my work."

Asked whether Deol would be as successful in politics as he was in Bollywood, Anupam Kher said there was nothing called as successful politician.

"The intention of the person, who is elected, should be to serve the people of his constituency. There is nothing called seasoned politician or something like that. The world has changed and youths are very smart," he said.
