Karnataka Polls: PM Modi Cites 'The Kerala Story', Says Congress Backing Those With Terror Mindset
‘The Kerala Story’ triggered a row, with CPI(M) and Congress claiming the movie falsely shows 32,000 women got converted and radicalised, and were deployed in terror missions in India and the world.
New Delhi: Launching an attack on the Congress over the ongoing controversy around the movie ‘The Kerala Story’, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the party is opposing the film as it “shows the ugly truth of terrorism” and the grand old party has always “shielded terrorism for the vote bank”. Addressing a rally in poll-bound Karnataka’s Ballari on Friday, PM Modi, as quoted by news agency ANI, said, “The Kerala Story film is based on a terror conspiracy. It shows the ugly truth of terrorism and exposes terrorists' design. Congress is opposing the film made on terrorism and standing with terror tendencies. Congress has shielded terrorism for the vote bank.”

Meanwhile, earlier in the day, the Kerala High Court refused to stay the release of the movie and noted that the trailer does not have anything offensive to any particular community as a whole.
The court also said that the producers have published a disclaimer with the movie that specifically says the film has fictionalised version of events and that it doesn't claim accuracy of historic events.
"In view of the disclaimer also, we are not inclined to pass an interim order restraining the respondents from exhibiting the film as such. In view of the above and taking into consideration the statement made by the producer that the producer does not intend to retain the offending teaser in their social media handles, no further orders are necessary in this petition at this stage," the court said.
It is to be noted that PM Modi has been holding massive election campaigns with just a few days left for the Karnataka polls. The Prime Minister will be doing marathon roadshows and rallies in the state in the coming two days on May 6 and 7.
