After riding pillion on the scooter of a delivery boy to get to his hotel, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi arrived in poll-bound Karnataka's Anekal on Sunday to address an election rally. Speaking at the gathering, the Congress leader slammed the ruling party BJP, claiming that the party has ruled the state for the last three years and that even Prime Minister Modi is aware of the prevailing state of corruption in the region; the situation of scams and corruption is even known to a six-year-old child.

Taking a dig at BJP, he said: "Scams are everywhere you look. MLA's son is caught with 8 crores, and a BJP MLA claims that the CM's chair can be purchased for Rs 2500 crores. You said that the double engine was stolen, so Modi Ji, tell me which engine received what percentage of the 40%?"

Gandhi further blamed 'hate politics' for the violence that broke out in the northeastern state of Manipur, saying: "If Manipur is burning today it is because of hate politics. And we started the Bharat Jodo Yatra against this hate politics," news agency ANI quoted him as saying.

Earlier in the day, hours after Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrapped up his mega roadshow in Bengaluru, standing on a vehicle decked out with flowers, with huge crowds lining the streets and showering him with petals, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi rode pillion on a delivery boy's scooter to his hotel.

Foreign Minister S Jaishankar also responded to Rahul Gandhi's criticism that the foreign minister does not understand the Chinese threat – when asked to comment on it at a foreign policy session in Mysore on Sunday. "I would have offered to take China classes from Rahul Gandhi. But I discovered he was taking Chinese classes from the Chinese ambassador. So I reasoned that I might as well go to the original source and talk to them," Jaishankar said.
