Jignesh Mevani is a big hope for congress in the Gujarat Assembly Elections 2022. He is representing the Indian National Congress from the Vadgam seat. An activist, lawyer, and former journalist, Jignesh Mevani gained national prominence during the 2016 protests against the Una flogging incident. He was also a part of the 2017 agitations of the Kachra Vahtuk Shramik Sangh in Mumbai alongside Kanhaiya Kumar. He contested the 2017 assembly elections as an Independent candidate from the Vadgam seat and eventually won. Thereafter, he developed close relations with Congress and was eventually inducted into the grand old party in 2021.
