Gopal Italia is AAP's candidate from the Katargam seat in the Surat district. Gopal, 33, rose to fame following his viral video clip in January 2017 where he was heard complaining about the violations of Gujarat's alcohol prohibition policy to Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel. He resurfaced in the news again in March 2017 when he hurled a shoe at Minister of State for Home, Pravinsinh Jadeja. Also associated with the Patidar agitations between 2018 and 2020, Gopal Italia was inducted into the AAP as the Vice President of its Gujarat unit.
