New Delhi: The Congress on Monday released its third list of candidates for the Goa assembly election, fielding former minister Michael Lobo from Calangute.

In this list, nine candidates have been named for the February 14 single-phase polls for the 40-member Goa assembly. With this list, Congress has announced candidates for 24 of the 40 seats.

Earlier this month, Michael Lobo along with his wife Delilah Lobo joined the Congress after resigning from the BJP.

Michael Lobo represented the Calangute Assembly constituency and held charge of the state port and waste management departments in the Goa Cabinet.

Michael Lobo had said people were dissatisfied with the ruling BJP in the coastal state.

Former Ponda MLA Lavu Mamledar, who resigned from Trinamool Congress last month after joining it weeks ago, will contest from Marcaim.

Vikas Prabhudessai has been given party's ticket from Porvorim while former independent MLA Prasad Goankar, who joined the Congress just 10 days back, has been nominated from Sanguem.

From Canacona, Janardan Bhandari has been named the Congress's candidate. Meghashyam Raut will contest from Bicholim while Aman Lotlikar has been fielded from Tivim.

In St. Andre, Congress has named Anthony Fernandes as its contender. In Sanquelim, Dharamesh Saglani will take on incumbent MLA and Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.

In the first and the second list, Congress had named eight and seven candidates respectively.

Elections for all 40 Assembly constituencies in Goa will take place on February 14. Counting of votes will be done on March 10.
