Ghosi Bypoll Result: Massive Victory For I.N.D.I.A In 1st Electoral Battle With BJP As SP Wins Purvanchal Seat
The Ghosi assembly bypoll result was the most anticipated as this was the first direct electoral battle between the BJP and the I.N.D.I.A bloc.
The "united" Opposition trumped the BJP as the two sides faced off for the first time in an electoral battle. The Samajwadi Party's Sudhakar Singh secured a landslide victory against his closest rival BJP turncoat Dara Singh Chauhan. Singh raked in a total of 1,24,427 votes, while Chauhan managed to get the support of 81,668 voters.
The Ghosi bypoll result was the most anticipated as this was the first direct electoral battle between the BJP and the I.N.D.I.A bloc. Sudhakar's candidature was not part of a formal alliance but it was supported by the Congress, the AAP, and other Opposition parties in the national partnership.
Singh maintained a healthy lead since the first round as counting began at 8 AM on Friday.
Samajwadi Party workers were seen celebrating in Lucknow after the party secured a clear lead.

Meanwhile, taking a swipe at the Opposition, UP BJP chief Bhupendra Chaudhary asked, "Will the opposition now raise a question on EVM, government machinery, and the Election Commission? As a political party, we will review the results and make a forward plan to serve the people of Ghosi."

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak informed that the BJP will speak to the local workers and analyse the reasons behind the loss, news agency ANI reported.
Earlier in the day, BJP registered massive wins in the twin bypolls in Tripura. The saffron party's candidate from Boxanagr, Tafajjal Hossain bagged the seat with a margin of over 30,000 votes. Hossain got 34,146 votes while distant second and CPI(M) candidate Mizan Hossain could manage only 3,909 votes. In Dhanpur, BJP's Bindu Debnath received 30,017 votes while CPI(M)'s Kaushik Chanda got 11,146 votes.
Seven seats — Bageshwar in Uttarakhand, Ghosi in Uttar Pradesh, Puthuppally in Kerala, Dhupguri in West Bengal, Dumri in Jharkhand, and Boxanagar and Dhanpur in Tripura — went to polls on September 5. The results are being declared on Friday.
