'If He Wanted To Win Amethi, Why Field A Peon?': BJP's Dinesh Pratap Singh Fires Shots At Rahul Gandhi
Without naming Congres's Amethi candidate KL Sharma, BJP's Dinesh Singh said that if Rahul Gandhi wanted to win in Amethi, he would not have put forward his 'peon' there.
Bharatiya Janata Party's Rae Bareli candidate Dinesh Pratap Singh on Saturday launched a scathing attack on his opponent, Congress candidate Rahul Gandhi, and his party for fielding Kishori Lal Sharma against Smriti Irani in Amethi. Without naming Sharma, Singh said that if the Wayanad MP wanted to secure victory in Amethi, he would not have put forward his 'peon' there.
"Does Rahul Gandhi really want to win Amethi & Raebareli. If he had really wanted to win Amethi, why would he give a Lok Sabha ticket to his peon from Amethi?... Earlier, when the Gandhi family used to visit Amethi or Raebareli, there used to be ropes tied to separate the people and in between the ropes, the Gandhi family passed by waving their hands," he said.
"But, now the people's wait of centuries of love and affection is being fulfilled, relations are building up. The part of the family is Dinesh Pratap Singh & Smriti Irani and not the Gandhi family... Sonia Gandhi left Raebareli in fear that if she lost, she would have to leave the 'das Janpath'. He (Rahul Gandhi) came, filed a nomination, and left for Delhi. Dinesh Pratap Singh after filing his nomination, started moving in the streets of the villages of Raebareli," he added.
"...If there was any positive response (from the party) then I wouldn't have returned my ticket. I was told to organise my own resources as the party can't fund me," says Congress candidate from Puri parliamentary constituency Sucharita Mohanty who has returned the ticket.

Kishori Lal Sharma, a longstanding loyalist of the Gandhi family, has been fielded by the Congress from Amethi. Reacting to his nomination, Sharma yesterday expressed gratitude to party leaders.
Also, in response to BJP's accusations of 'fear', Sharma defended Rahul Gandhi, saying, "Rahul Gandhi is not someone who runs away from the ground. He is fighting for the whole country".
KL Sharma hails from Ludhiana in Punjab and has been associated with the Congress party for over four decades. Click here to read more about him.
