Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Saturday said the ticket distribution process for the upcoming assembly polls is going on smoothly and asserted that candidates would be selected on the basis of winnability as well as the feedback received from a survey conducted. He made the remarks ahead of the screening committee meeting. Later in the evening, the screening committee met in the party's war room at 15, Gurudwara Rakabganj Road to discuss the names of the candidates put forward by the state's election committee headed by Rajasthan unit chief Govind Singh Dotasra.Lok Sabha member Gaurav Gogoi heads the screening panel for Rajasthan polls, with Ganesh Godiyal and Abhishek Dutt being the other members. Gehlot, Dotasara and senior leader Sachin Pilot are among the other members. (PTI)

Ahead of the upcoming Chhattisgarh State Assembly Elections 2023, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has provided central security cover to 24 leaders of the state, including former Chief Minister Ajit Jogi's son Amit Jogi on a 'temporary basis', reported ANI.
The MHA has ordered the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) to provide 'Z' category security cover to Amit Jogi and 'X' category security cover to the remaining 23 leaders, ANI reported.
Unaccounted cash to the tune of over Rs 20 crore and 31.9 kg gold was seized at various places in Telangana after the model code of conduct came into force on October 9.
A total of Rs 20.43 crore in cash, 31.979 kg gold, 350 kgs silver and 42.203 carat diamond, all worth Rs 14.65 crore besides liquor worth Rs 86.9 lakh, ganja valued at Rs 89 lakh, and other items/freebies worth Rs 22.51 lakh were seized, according to a statement issued by the office of the Chief Electoral Officer.

YSR Telangana Party will contest from all 119 seats of Telangana Assembly, says party chief Y S Sharmila, as reported by PTI.

On Rajasthan assembly polls, Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal says, "... Every party has a different strategy and policy for each state... The workers of the BJP are unanimous... All workers are working together for the win of the BJP candidates... If the PM comes and inaugurates and launches projects in Rajasthan, they are beneficial to the people and they are questioning it. The CM also questioned the visits of the Vice President. People in constitutional positions should not criticise anyone who is in a constitutional position, this is what the Constitution says... BJP will win with a huge majority in Rajasthan..."
Former Madhya Pradesh CM and Congress State President Kamal Nath says, "... I want to ask Shivraj Singh what has he given? He has given inflation, corruption and unemployment... I want to promise that the rules of the PESA Panchayats (Extension to Scheduled Areas) Act will be made by you... We will fill the backlog of recruitments... The biggest challenge in Madhya Pradesh is the future of our youth... Our priority would be to fill the vacancies so that the youth gets employment. Employment is our priority."

Union Cabinet Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat told PTI, "The top BJP leadership has fielded candidates on seats where it felt they could make an impact (in Rajasthan Assembly elections). 'BJP has already accepted defeat' is just a political statement."

The Election Commission on Wednesday changed the date of polling for the Rajasthan assembly elections from November 23 to November 25 citing "large-scale" weddings and social engagements.
In a statement, the EC said the decision was taken following representations made by various parties and social organisations for a change of the date of poll "considering large-scale wedding/social engagements on that day (November 23) which may cause inconvenience to large number of people, various logistic issues and may lead to reduced voters participation during poll".
"The Commission, having considered these factors and representations, has decided to change the date of poll from 23rd November, 2023 (Thursday) to 25th November, 2023 (Saturday)," it added.
The counting of votes will take place as scheduled on December 3, along with the same for four other state assembly polls.
The ECI announced the assembly poll schedule for Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Telangana and Mizoram on Monday.
Polls to the Legislative Assemblies of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, and Mizoram will be held in a single phase while Chhattisgarh will undergo polls in two phases.
Mizoram will go to polls on November 7, Madhya Pradesh on November 17, Rajasthan on November 25, and Telangana on November 30 while Chhattisgarh will vote in two phases on November 7 and November 17.
Meanwhile, mediapersons and employees of eight departments such as electricity, transport and health will be able to vote through postal ballots in the November 23 Rajasthan Assembly elections, an official said on Wednesday.
The Election Commission has issued a notification in this regard and it will be the first time journalists in the state can avail the postal ballot facility.
Chief Electoral Officer Praveen Gupta said that according to the order, doctors, paramedical staff, ambulance workers, electricians in the energy department, linemen and pump operators in the Public Health Engineering Department, turners, those working in milk committees of Rajasthan, employees and drivers and conductors in transport corporation, firefighters and mediapersons authorised by the Election Commission will be given the facility of voting through postal ballots from this year.
