With 17th General Elections just around the corner, ABP News along with Nielson conducted a survey to check the mood of voters in country’s populous state Uttar Pradesh.

Lok Sabha Elections 2019: With 17th General Elections just around the corner, ABP News along with Nielson conducted a survey to check the mood of voters in country’s populous state Uttar Pradesh which has as many as 80 constituencies. The survey shows a close fight between the Bharatiya Janata Pradesh (BJP) which will contest the General Elections to retain its incumbent government in the state against the Mahagathbandhan (grand alliance) between Samajwadi Party, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD). The state has been divided into four regions and the survey conducted in Purvanchal region predicts a gain for the super coalition with SP-BSP-RLD winning 15 seats and BJP falling short on just 11 seats. Congress which is also one of the front runners in the forthcoming polls is likely to win no seats in the Purvanchal region of Uttar Pradesh. The ABP-Nielson survey shows Mahagathbandhan advancing in seats such as Fatehpur, Kaushambi (SC), Allahabad, Chandauli, Domariyaganj, Basti, etc. whereas NDA is bagging seats such as Pratapgarh, Maharajganj, Deoria, Bansgaon (SC), Salempur among others. The survey also notes that apart on a few constituencies of Purvanchal region, the vote difference is not too much. It is also worth noting that Mahagathbandhan will snatch seats such as Fatehpur, Kaushambi (SC), Allahabad, Lalganj (SC), Bhadohi, Azamgarh and many others from the incumbent BJP government in Purvanchal region. Watch video: The 17th Lok Sabha elections will be held in all seven phases in Uttar Pradesh. Voting in the state will take place on April 11, 18, 23, 29 and May 06, 12 and 19. Counting of votes will take place on May 23 and it is when the state along with the entire country will know which party or coalition will form the next government. In the 2014 elections, BJP swept the Lok Sabha Polls in the state with a massive victory on 71 of the total 80 seats - a major chunk of the 282 Lok Sabha seats that it had bagged in the 543-member House.
