Virudhunagar: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Radhakrishnan T from All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (ADMK) won the elections by a margin of 145551 votes. The polling / voting in Virudhunagar constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 2 on 18 April. The major contest is between Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam#s R. Azhagarsamy and Congress Party#s Manickam tagore

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam won 37 out of the 39 parliamentary seat with 44.3 percent vote share while the Bharatiya Janata Party managed to win just 1 seats with a 5.5 percent vote share.

Interestingly, the top 18 scorers of the Bihar Board Class 10 exam are from Simultala Awasiya Vidyalaya, Jamui. Soon after the results were declared, questions started raising regarding the toppers. As per the report by the Indian Express, principal Rajiv Ranjan has said that he 'ready for the investigation'. Speaking to IE, Ranjan said, 'As the school is a government entity, they have no vested interests behind the results. The school is open for any kind of investigation.'
