Tripura East: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Jitendra Chaudhury from Communist Party of India (CPM) won the elections by a margin of 484358 votes. The polling / voting in Tripura East constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 2 on 18 April. The major contest is between Bharatiya Janata Party#s Pratima Bhaumik and Congress Party#s M.s. Pragya deb burman

Tripura East 2014 Lok Sabha Polls

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Communist Party of India (Marxist) won 2 out of the 2 parliamentary seat with 64 percent vote share while the Indian National Congress managed to win just seats with a 15.2 percent vote share.

Voter turnout in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections in Tripura East Lok Sabha Lok Sabha constituency. The total voter turnout was 83.41% Lok Sabha percent with 84.11% Lok Sabha percent male voters turning out to cast their votes. Meanwhile, 82.69% Lok Sabha percent of the women voters cast their votes and 11084 Lok Sabha voters pressed on the NOTA

Out of the 12 Lok Sabha candidates who contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Tripura East, 11 had to deposit their security. The voters gave their mandate in favour of Jitendra Chaudhury of the Communist Party of India as he defeated Sachitra Debbarma by a margin of 484358 votes.

  • 2004 Lok Sabha Elections: In 14th Lok Sabha election, Communist Party of India candidate defated Bharatiya Janta Party candidate in one-sided contest. Here, CPM candidate Baju Ban Riyan attained 414230 votes and BJP's Pulin Bihari Dewan bagged 103494 votes.
  • 1999 Lok Sabha Elections: In 13th Lok Sabha poll, Communist Party of India candidate defated Bharatiya Janta Party candidate in one-sided contest. Here, CPM candidate Baju Ban Riyan attained 304934 votes and BJP's Jishnu Dev Varma bagged 154434 votes.
  • 1998 Lok Sabha Elections: In 12th Lok Sabha election, Communist Party of India candidate had defeated Indian National Congress candidate by a margin of 72686 votes CPM candidate Baju Ban Riyan had got 320766 while INC got Drao Kumar Reang votes.
  • 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha poll, Communist Party of India candidate defated Indian National Congress candidate in one-sided contest. Here, CPM candidate Baju Ban Riyan attained 327929 votes and INC's Kashiram Reang bagged 173560 votes.
  • 1991 Lok Sabha Elections: In 10th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defated Communist Party of India candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC candidate Bibhu Kumari Devi (W) attained 377436 votes and CPM's Baju Ban Riyan bagged 30783 votes.
  • 1989 Lok Sabha Elections: In Ninth Lok Sabha election, interesting battle could be seen between Indian National Congress and Communist Party of India here Indian National Congress candidate defeated his Communist Party of India counterpart with a difference of 8401 votes.
  • 1984 Lok Sabha Elections: In 8th Lok Sabha election, Communist Party of India candidate defeated Indian National Congress candidate with a difference of 41063 votes. Here, Communist Party of India leader Baju Ban Riyan attained 231023 votes and Indian National Congress candidate Kirit Bikram Kishore Debbarman bagged 189960 votes
  • 1980 Lok Sabha Elections: In 7th Lok Sabha election, Communist Party of India candidate had defeated Independent candidate by a margin of 93906 votes CPM candidate Bajuban Riyan had got 196199 while IND got Ratnaprava Das votes.
  • 1977 Lok Sabha Elections: In Sixth Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated CPM candidate with a difference of 13183 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Kirit Bikram Kishore Deb Barma attained 133907 votes and CPM candidate Dasaratha Deb bagged 120724 votes
  • 1971 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fifth Lok Sabha election, Communist Party of India candidate defeated INC candidate with a difference of 21442 votes. Here, Communist Party of India leader Dasaratha Deb attained 91192 votes and INC candidate Ramendra Kishore Deb Barma bagged 69750 votes
  • 1967 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fourth Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated CPM candidate with a difference of 38586 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader S. M. M. K. B. K. D .Bahadur attained 129618 votes and CPM candidate D. Deb bagged 91032 votes
  • 1962 Lok Sabha Elections: In Third Lok Sabha election, Communist Party of India (Marxist) candidate defeated INC candidate with a difference of 10048 votes. Here, Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Dasaratha Deb attained 77539 votes and INC candidate Jitendra Mohan Deb Barma bagged 67491 votes
