Background

Tezpur: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Ram Prasad Sarmah from Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) won the elections by a margin of 86020 votes. The polling / voting in Tezpur constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 1 on 11 April. The major contest is between Bharatiya Janata Party#s Pallab Lochan Das and Congress Party#s Mgvk bhanu

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Bharatiya Janata Party won 7 out of the 14 parliamentary seat with 36.5 percent vote share while the All India United Democratic Front managed to win just 3 seats with a 14.8 percent vote share.
