Sitamarhi: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Ram Kumar Sharma from Rashtriya Lok Samta Party (RLSP) won the elections by a margin of 147965 votes. The polling / voting in Sitamarhi constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 5 on 6 May. The major contest is between Janata Dal (United)#s Dr. Varun Kumar and Rashtriya Janata Dal#s Arjun Rai

Sitamarhi 2014 Lok Sabha Polls

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Bharatiya Janata Party won 22 out of the 40 parliamentary seat with 29.4 percent vote share while the Lok Janshakti Party managed to win just 6 seats with a 6.4 percent vote share.

Out of the 19 Lok Sabha candidates who contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Sitamarhi, 17 had to deposit their security. The voters gave their mandate in favour of Ram Kumar Sharma of the Rashtriya Lok Samta Party as he defeated Sitaram Yadav by a margin of 147965 votes.

  • 2004 Lok Sabha Elections: In 14th Lok Sabha election, Rashtriya Janata Dal candidate had defeated Janata Dal (United) candidate by a margin of 98005 votes RJD candidate Sitaram Yadav had got 326165 while JD(U) got Naval Kishore Rai votes.
  • 1999 Lok Sabha Elections: In 13th Lok Sabha poll, Janata Dal (United) candidate defated Rashtriya Janata Dal candidate in one-sided contest. Here, JD(U) candidate Nawal Kishore Rai attained 410557 votes and RJD's Suryadeo Rai bagged 309300 votes.
  • 1998 Lok Sabha Elections: In 12th Lok Sabha election, Rashtriya Janata Dal candidate defeated JD candidate with a difference of 23509 votes. Here, Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Sita Ram Yadav attained 277898 votes and JD candidate Nawal Kishore Rai bagged 254389 votes
  • 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha election, JD candidate had defeated Indian National Congress candidate by a margin of 82257 votes JD candidate Nawal Kishore Rai had got 322483 while INC got Md. Anvarul Haque votes.
  • 1991 Lok Sabha Elections: In 10th Lok Sabha election, JD candidate defated Indian National Congress candidate in one-sided contest. Here, JD candidate Nawal Kishore Ray attained 425186 votes and INC's Rambriksha Chaudhary bagged 196035 votes.
  • 1989 Lok Sabha Elections: In Ninth Lok Sabha poll, JD candidate defated Indian National Congress candidate in one-sided contest. Here, JD candidate Hukumdeo Narayan Yadav attained 335796 votes and INC's Nagendra Pd. Yadav bagged 164935 votes.
  • 1984 Lok Sabha Elections: In 8th Lok Sabha poll, Indian National Congress candidate defated LKD candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC candidate Ranshresth Khirhar attained 217307 votes and LKD's Indal Singh Navin bagged 95763 votes.
  • 1980 Lok Sabha Elections: In 7th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated Indian National Congress candidate with a difference of 32249 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Baliram Bhagat attained 213245 votes and Indian National Congress candidate Shashi Shekhareshwar Pd. Narain Singh bagged 180996 votes
  • 1977 Lok Sabha Elections: In Sixth Lok Sabha election, BLD candidate had defeated INC candidate by a margin of 90094 votes BLD candidate Shyam Sunder Das had got 261321 while INC got Nagendra Prasad Yadav votes.
  • 1971 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fifth Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated SSP candidate with a difference of 28725 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Nagendra Prasad Yadav attained 217416 votes and SSP candidate Thakur Jugal Kishore Singh bagged 188691 votes
  • 1967 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fourth Lok Sabha election, interesting battle could be seen between Indian National Congress and SSP; here Indian National Congress candidate defeated his SSP counterpart with a difference of 517 votes.
  • 1962 Lok Sabha Elections: In Third Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated PSP candidate with a difference of 33515 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Nagindra Pd. Yadab attained 90910 votes and PSP candidate Yugal Kishore Singh bagged 57395 votes
  • 1957 Lok Sabha Elections: In Second Lok Sabha election, PSP candidate had defeated IND candidate by a margin of 70778 votes PSP candidate Acharya J. B. Kripalani had got 125613 while IND got Bujhawan Sah votes.
