Serampore: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Kalyan Banerjee from All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) won the elections by a margin of 152526 votes. The polling / voting in Serampore constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 5 on 6 May. The major contest is between Bharatiya Janata Party#s Devjit Sarkar and All India Trinamool Congress#s Kalyan Banerjee

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, All India Trinamool Congress won 34 out of the 42 parliamentary seat with 39.8 percent vote share while the Communist Party of India (Marxist) managed to win just 2 seats with a 23 percent vote share.

• 1999 Lok Sabha Elections: In 13th Lok Sabha election, All India Trinamool Congress candidate defeated Communist Party of India candidate with a difference of 47764 votes. Here, All India Trinamool Congress leader Akbor Ali Khandoker attained 411406 votes and Communist Party of India candidate Sudarsan Roy Chaudhury bagged 363642 votes
• 1998 Lok Sabha Elections: In 12th Lok Sabha election, WBTC candidate defeated Communist Party of India candidate with a difference of 44611 votes. Here, WBTC leader Akbor Ali Khandoker attained 439269 votes and Communist Party of India candidate Sudarsan Ray Chaudhuri bagged 394658 votes
• 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha election, interesting battle could be seen between Indian National Congress and Communist Party of India here Indian National Congress candidate defeated his Communist Party of India counterpart with a difference of 5463 votes.
• 1991 Lok Sabha Elections: In 10th Lok Sabha election, Communist Party of India candidate defeated Indian National Congress candidate with a difference of 44497 votes. Here, Communist Party of India leader Sudarsan Roy Chowdhury attained 366535 votes and Indian National Congress candidate Bimalkanti Ghosh bagged 322038 votes
• 1989 Lok Sabha Elections: In Ninth Lok Sabha election, Communist Party of India candidate had defeated Indian National Congress candidate by a margin of 66458 votes CPM candidate Sudarsan Ray Chowdhuri had got 426994 while INC got Bimal Kanti Ghosh votes.
• 1984 Lok Sabha Elections: In 8th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated Communist Party of India candidate with a difference of 30231 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Bimal Kanti Ghosh attained 338152 votes and Communist Party of India candidate Ajit Bag bagged 307921 votes
• 1980 Lok Sabha Elections: In 7th Lok Sabha poll, Communist Party of India candidate defated Indian National Congress candidate in one-sided contest. Here, CPM candidate Dinen Bhattacharya attained 292993 votes and INC(I)'s Gopal Das Nag bagged 186886 votes.
• 1977 Lok Sabha Elections: In Sixth Lok Sabha poll, Communist Party of India candidate defated CPI candidate in one-sided contest. Here, CPM candidate Dinen Bhattacharya attained 260071 votes and CPI's Jadu Gopal Sen bagged 120256 votes.
• 1971 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fifth Lok Sabha election, Communist Party of India candidate had defeated CPI candidate by a margin of 62458 votes CPM candidate Dinendra Nath Bhattacharyya had got 167530 while CPI got Jadu Gopal Sen votes.
• 1967 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fourth Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated CPM candidate with a difference of 22836 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader B. Ghosh attained 160662 votes and CPM candidate D. N. Bhattacharya bagged 137826 votes
• 1962 Lok Sabha Elections: In Third Lok Sabha election, Communist Party of India (Marxist) candidate defeated INC candidate with a difference of 10862 votes. Here, Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Dinendra Nath Bhattacharya attained 172992 votes and INC candidate Jitendra Nath Lahiri bagged 162130 votes
