Sambhal: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Satyapal Singh from Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) won the elections by a margin of 5174 votes. The polling / voting in Sambhal constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 3 on 23 April. The major contest is between Bharatiya Janata Party#s Parmeshwar Lal Saini and Samajwadi Party#s Shafiqur Rahman Barq

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Bharatiya Janata Party won 71 out of the 80 parliamentary seat with 42.3 percent vote share while the Samajwadi Party managed to win just 5 seats with a 22.2 percent vote share.

Out of the 13 Lok Sabha candidates who contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Sambhal, 10 had to deposit their security. The voters gave their mandate in favour of Satyapal Singh of the Bharatiya Janta Party as he defeated Dr Shafiq- Ur Rahman Barq by a margin of 5174 votes.

• 1999 Lok Sabha Elections: In 13th Lok Sabha poll, Samajwadi Party candidate defated Bharatiya Janta Party candidate in one-sided contest. Here, SP candidate Mulayam Singh Yadav attained 259430 votes and BJP's Ch. Bhupendra Singh bagged 143596 votes.
• 1998 Lok Sabha Elections: In 12th Lok Sabha poll, Samajwadi Party candidate defated Bharatiya Janta Party candidate in one-sided contest. Here, SP candidate Mulayam Singh Yadav attained 376828 votes and BJP's Dharampal Yadav Urf D.P. Yadav bagged 210146 votes.
• 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha election, interesting battle could be seen between Bahujan Samaj Party and JD here Bahujan Samaj Party candidate defeated his JD counterpart with a difference of 4894 votes.
• 1991 Lok Sabha Elections: In 10th Lok Sabha election, interesting battle could be seen between JD and Bharatiya Janta Party here JD candidate defeated his Bharatiya Janta Party counterpart with a difference of 1705 votes.
• 1989 Lok Sabha Elections: In Ninth Lok Sabha election, JD candidate defeated Indian National Congress candidate with a difference of 42497 votes. Here, JD leader S.P.Yadava attained 215582 votes and Indian National Congress candidate Shanti Devi bagged 173085 votes
• 1984 Lok Sabha Elections: In 8th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated LKD candidate with a difference of 41243 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Shanti Devi attained 124175 votes and LKD candidate Sultan Singh Yadav bagged 82932 votes
• 1980 Lok Sabha Elections: In 7th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated JNP(S) candidate with a difference of 15767 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Bijendra Pal Singh attained 102559 votes and JNP(S) candidate Shanti Devi bagged 86792 votes

भारतीय मौसम विभाग ने पूर्वानुमान दिया है कि गंभीर चक्रवाती तूफान फोनी उत्तर/उत्तर-पूर्व की ओर बढ़ेगा और अगले 12 घंटों के दौरान इस चक्रवाती तूफान के और कमजोर होने की संभावना है.

फोनी तूफान की वजह से कोलकाता की चार हवाई उड़ानों को सुरक्षा कारणों से रद्द किया गया है. सर वाराणसी के एलबीएस हवाई अड्डे पर कोलकाता से आने वाले विमानों पर भी फोनी का असर पड़ा. शुक्रवार को कोलकाता वाराणसी के बीच चलने वाले एयर इंडिया और स्पाइसजेट के विमानों को रद्द कर दिया गया. निरस्त हुए विमानों की सूची देखें तो वाराणसी से कोलकाता - एआई 421, कोलकाता से वाराणसी - एआई 422, वाराणसी से कोलकाता - एसजी 3329, कोलकाता से वाराणसी - एसजी 3328

पुरी के आसपास नेवी के डोर्नियर एयरक्राफ्ट ने हवाई सर्वे किया और ओडिशा के पुरी के आसपास भारी तबाही के निशान देखने को मिले. नेवी के डोर्नियर एयरक्राफ्ट को हवाई सर्वे के काम में लगाया गया जिससे कि बेहद भीषण चक्रवात फोनी के असर का पता लगाया जा सके. पुरी शहर में पेड़ और बिजली के खंबे उखड़ गए और इनकी वजह से सड़कें अवरुद्ध हो गईं. पुरी रेलवे स्टेशन की छत का एक हिस्सा उड़ गया है. विशेष रूप से पुरी और चिल्का झील के बीच निचले इलाकों में बड़े पैमाने पर पानी का भराव देखा गया. राहत और पुनर्वास गतिविधियों की योजना के लिए हवाई सर्वेक्षण के फुटेज को राज्य प्रशासन के अधिकारियों के साथ साझा किया जा रहा है.
