Background

Samastipur: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Ram Chandra Paswan from Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) won the elections by a margin of 6872 votes. The polling / voting in Samastipur constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 4 on 29 April. The major contest is between Lok Janshakti Party#s Ram Chandra Paswan and Congress Party#s Dr. Ashok kumar

Samastipur 2014 Lok Sabha Polls

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Bharatiya Janata Party won 22 out of the 40 parliamentary seat with 29.4 percent vote share while the Lok Janshakti Party managed to win just 6 seats with a 6.4 percent vote share.

  • 1999 Lok Sabha Elections: In 13th Lok Sabha election, Janata Dal (United) candidate defeated Rashtriya Janata Dal candidate with a difference of 12688 votes. Here, Janata Dal (United) leader Manjay Lal attained 368776 votes and Rashtriya Janata Dal candidate Ashok Singh bagged 356088 votes
  • 1998 Lok Sabha Elections: In 12th Lok Sabha election, Rashtriya Janata Dal candidate defeated SAP candidate with a difference of 37654 votes. Here, Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Ajit Kumar Mehta attained 301099 votes and SAP candidate Ashok Singh bagged 263445 votes
  • 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha poll, JD candidate defated SAP candidate in one-sided contest. Here, JD candidate Ajit Kumar Mehta attained 400117 votes and SAP's Manjay Lal bagged 258183 votes.
  • 1991 Lok Sabha Elections: In 10th Lok Sabha election, JD candidate defated Indian National Congress candidate in one-sided contest. Here, JD candidate Manjay Lal attained 430450 votes and INC's Baliram Bhagat bagged 191418 votes.
  • 1989 Lok Sabha Elections: In Ninth Lok Sabha election, JD candidate defated Indian National Congress candidate in one-sided contest. Here, JD candidate Manjai Lal attained 451477 votes and INC's Ramdeo Rai bagged 213796 votes.
