The polling / voting in Patiala constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 7 on 19 May. The major contest is between Shiromani Akali Dal#s Surjit Singh Rakhra and Congress Party#s Smt. Preneet kaur

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Indian National Congress won 3 out of the 13 parliamentary seat with 33.1 percent vote share while the Shiromani Akali Dal managed to win just 4 seats with a 20.3 percent vote share.

  • 1999 Lok Sabha Elections: In 13th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated Shiromani Akali Dal candidate by a margin of 78908 votes INC candidate Preneet Kaur had got 360125 while SAD got Surjit Singh Rakhra votes.
  • 1998 Lok Sabha Elections: In 12th Lok Sabha election, Shiromani Akali Dal candidate defeated Indian National Congress candidate with a difference of 33251 votes. Here, Shiromani Akali Dal leader Prem Singh Chandumajra attained 410937 votes and Indian National Congress candidate Amrinder Singh bagged 377686 votes
  • 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha election, Shiromani Akali Dal candidate defeated Indian National Congress candidate with a difference of 49066 votes. Here, Shiromani Akali Dal leader Prem Singh Chandumajra attained 316554 votes and Indian National Congress candidate Sant Ram bagged 267488 votes
  • 1989 Lok Sabha Elections: In Ninth Lok Sabha election, Independent candidate had defeated Indian National Congress candidate by a margin of 81260 votes IND candidate Atinderpal Singh had got 294172 while INC got Vinod Kumar S/O Kidar Nath votes.
