Lok Sabha elections 2019: 59 constituencies in six states and Delhi went for voting in the penultimate sixth phase of the ongoing Lok Sabha polls. 14 seats in Uttar Pradesh, all 10 in Haryana, eight each in West Bengal, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh, four in Jharkhand and all seven seats in Delhi went for polling. President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President Venkaiah Naidu, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Congress chief Rahul Gandhi were among the prominent people who voted in Delhi on Sunday. External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, former CM and Congress's North-East Delhi candidate Sheila Dikshit and Airtel Managing Director Sunil Bharti Mittal also cast their vote.
According to PTI, Delhi recorded a turnout of 55 per cent till 5 pm, poll officials said, adding that the figure would rise by the time voting ends. Among the seven constituencies, the Northeast Delhi saw a turnout of 58.8 per cent, followed by East Delhi which recorded 57.4 per cent voting. New Delhi and South Delhi recorded lowest turnout of 51.9 and 52.5 per cent respectively. West Delhi saw 55.8 per cent voting, while Northwest Delhi recorded a turnout of 53.5 per cent. Chandni Chowk saw a turnout of 56.5 per cent.

The total voter turn out till 5:30 pm for Lok Sabha election in Haryana is 62.08%, Press Information Bureau (PIB) reported.
As the polling in Phase 6 of the Lok Sabha Elections is about to conclude in a few minutes from now, the Election Commission of India will hold a press briefing at 7 pm. In the briefing, EC will reveal the official polling percentage recorded in all seven states where polling took place today.
BJP candidate Sanjay Jaiswal allegedly attacked by unidentified people at booth no 162 and 163 in Bihar Bettiah region.
CPM leader Sitaram Yechuri on Sunday sought action against Prime Minsiter Narendra Modi for allegedly violating the Model Code of Conduct by seeking votes by using armed forces and influencing voters during the silent period by giving out operational details of the Balakot Air Strikes conducted by the Indian Air Force (IAF) in Pakistan.

A voter turnout of 51.93 per cent was recorded till 4 pm in the 10 Lok Sabha seats in Haryana on Sunday, with Kurukshetra and Hisar constituencies witnessing brisk polling. Kurukshetra, from where Haryana minister Nayab Singh Saini is pitted against Congress' Nirmal Singh and INLD's Arjun Chautala, recorded a poll percentage of 56.99 while Hisar recorded 55.50 per cent voting, news agency PTI reported.

According to reports, BJP leader and Bhopal Mayor violated the Model Code of Conduct by reaching the polling booth with party's symbol. EC is expected to take congnizance of matter.

Ninety strong rooms have been set up at 30 locations in Haryana to store the EVMs and VVPAT machines safely after completion of voting in the ten Lok Sabha constituencies, State's Joint Chief Electoral Officer Inder Jeet said on Sunday.

Around 50.3 per cent of 1.44 crore voters exercised their franchise till 3 pm on Sunday in
eight Lok Sabha seats of Madhya Pradesh, an official said.
While Ambedkar Nagar Lok Sabha constituency recorded the highest turnout of 47.60 per cent, enthusiasm among voters was the least in Phulpur, where 36.80 per cent cast their ballots.
Over 43 per cent polling was reported till 3 pm in 14 Lok Sabha constituencies of Uttar Pradesh on Sunday, where Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and Union minister Maneka Gandhi are among the key contestants, news agency PTI reported.

A voter turnout of 39.16 per cent was recorded till 2 pm in ten Lok Sabha seats of Haryana on Sunday, with Kurukshetra and Hisar constituencies witnessing brisk polling, reported news agency PTI.

Several Delhi citizens were left disappointed as their names went missing from voters' list for Phase 6 of the Lok Sabha Elections. Delhi Chief Electoral Officer Ranbir Singh said he and his office had been telling people to check their names in voter lists from the last six months.

Complaints about malfunctioning EVMs poured in from several places of the national capital on Sunday where voting is underway, news agency PTI reported. Aam Aadmi Party's Malviya Nagar MLA Somnath Bharti alleged that EVMs at booths 116,117 and 122 were not functioning.

According to Elections Commission's official Voter Turnout app, a total of 39.24 per cent of voting has been recorded in Phase 6 elections till 1 pm. Bihar: 35.22%, Haryana: 38.36%, MP: 41.87%, Uttar Pradesh: 34.30%, West Bengal: 55.60%, Jharkhand: 47.16% and Delhi NCT: 31.51%

An average 28.01 per cent voter turnout was recorded till Sunday noon in eight Lok Sabha seats
of Madhya Pradesh, an election official said.
Amid reports of EVM glitches, the national capital recorded 20.37 per cent polling till 11 am on Sunday, news agency PTI quoted officials said.
Barring reports of sporadic violence mainly from Paschim Medinipore district, polling at
eight Lok Sabha constituencies in West Bengal was peaceful as 37.97 per cent of 1,33,69,749 voters exercised their franchise in the first four hours of voting on Sunday.

EVM issues:


Mudit Agarwal, son of Congress' Chandni Chowk candidate JP Agarwal alleged malfunctioning of EVMs at a few booths in Matiamahal and Ballimaran Assembly segments. Tilak Nagar AAP MLA Jarnail Singh also alleged in a tweet that there was malfunctioning of EVMs at a booth.

Voters queued up outside polling booths on Sunday morning in all seven Lok Sabha constituencies of the national capital where former Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit, Union minister Harsh Vardhan and cricketer-turned-politician Gautam Gambhir are among those in the fray.
Voting began at 7 am and among the early voters were Dikshit, party's New Delhi candidate Ajay Maken, Union minister Vardhan, BJP's East Delhi candidate Gambhir, and BJP National General Secretary (Organisation) Ram Lal.

Madhya Pradesh:


Eight Lok Sabha seats in Madhya Pradesh, which includes Bhopal constituency where senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh is locked in a battle with BJP nominee and Malegaon blast accused Pragya Singh Thakur. This will be the third phase of polling in Madhya Pradesh, with the first and second phases having been held on April 29 and May 6. The last phase will be held on May 19. While seven of these seats were won by the BJP in 2014, the Guna constituency was won by the Congress. Guna, one of the high-profile seats in this phase, would seal the fate of AICC general secretary and Congress candidate Jyotiraditya Scindia.Union minister and BJP nominee Narendra Singh Tomar is in the fray from Morena.
Bihar:


Eight seats in Bihar will go to polls on Sunday. All of these were won by the NDA in 2014. While Ram Vilas Paswan's LJP holds the Vaishali seat, the remaining were won by the BJP, which has given up Valmiki Nagar and Siwan in favour of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's JD(U) and fielded its sitting MPs from their respective seats. Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh is in the fray. He is serving his fifth term as the MP from Purvi Champaran, earlier known as Motihari.
Jharkhand:


In Jharkhand, four Lok Sabha seats will go to polls. A total 66,85,401 voters of Giridih, Dhanbad, Jamshedpur and Singhbhum (ST) constituencies are eligible to decide the fate of 67 candidates in Sunday's election. The JMM and the Congress are part of the Mahagathbandhan (grand alliance) in Jharkhand. Polling for the first two phases in the state were held on April 29 and May 6. The last phase will be conducted on May 19.
West Bengal:


In West Bengal, The polls in this phase will cover Jangal Mahal - the forested region of Bankura, West Midnapore, Jhargram and Purulia districts which used to be a Maoist hotbed during the erstwhile Left Front regime. Seats where elections will be held on Sunday are Tamluk, Kanthi, Ghatal, Jhargram (ST), Medinipur, Purulia, Bankura and Bishnupur (SC), where an electorate of 1,33,69,749 will decide the fate of 83 candidates. All these seats were won by the TMC in 2014.
Haryana:


In Haryana, Union ministers Krishan Pal Gurjar and Rao Inderjit Singh are seeking re-election while former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda is once again entering the race to the lower house. In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, the BJP had contested in eight seats and won seven while the saffron party's then ally HJC had fought two bit losing both and INLD winning two seats and Congress one. The Congress has re-nominated its sitting MP from Rohtak, Deepender Singh Hooda, son of Bhupinder Singh Hooda.

Uttar Pradesh: Akhilesh Yadav’s electoral fate to be decided today




In Uttar Pradesh, the candidates whose electoral fate will be decided include SP president Akhilesh Yadav and Union minister Maneka Gandhi. Of the 14 constituencies going to polls in the state, the BJP had won 13 in 2014 with Azamgarh being the only exception from where SP patron Mulayam Singh Yadav had been victorious.

New Delhi: The sixth phase of polling for Lok Sabha elections 2019 ended on Sunday where 59 constituencies in six states and Delhi went for voting in the penultimate sixth phase of the ongoing Lok Sabha polls.
