Background

Moradabad: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Kunwer Sarvesh Kumar from Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) won the elections by a margin of 87504 votes. The polling / voting in Moradabad constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 3 on 23 April. The major contest is between Bharatiya Janata Party#s Kunwar Sarvesh Kumar and Samajwadi Party#s Sayyad Nasir Hussain

Moradabad 2014 Lok Sabha Polls

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Bharatiya Janata Party won 71 out of the 80 parliamentary seat with 42.3 percent vote share while the Samajwadi Party managed to win just 5 seats with a 22.2 percent vote share.

Out of the 18 Lok Sabha candidates who contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Moradabad, 16 had to deposit their security. The voters gave their mandate in favour of Kunwer Sarvesh Kumar of the Bharatiya Janta Party as he defeated Dr S T Hasan by a margin of 87504 votes.

  • 2004 Lok Sabha Elections: In 14th Lok Sabha election, Samajwadi Party candidate defeated Bharatiya Janta Party candidate with a difference of 35840 votes. Here, Samajwadi Party leader Dr. Shafiqurrahman Barq attained 218079 votes and Bharatiya Janta Party candidate Chandra Vijay Singh Urf Baby Raja bagged 182239 votes
  • 1999 Lok Sabha Elections: In 13th Lok Sabha election, ABLTC candidate had defeated Samajwadi Party candidate by a margin of 96450 votes ABLTC candidate Chandra Vijay Singh Alias Baby Raja had got 253321 while SP got Dr. Shafiqur Rahman Barq votes.
  • 1998 Lok Sabha Elections: In 12th Lok Sabha election, Samajwadi Party candidate defeated Bharatiya Janta Party candidate with a difference of 36481 votes. Here, Samajwadi Party leader Dr. Shafiqur Rahman Barq attained 289484 votes and Bharatiya Janta Party candidate Vijay Bansal bagged 253003 votes
  • 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha election, interesting battle could be seen between Samajwadi Party and Bharatiya Janta Party here Samajwadi Party candidate defeated his Bharatiya Janta Party counterpart with a difference of 1885 votes.
  • 1991 Lok Sabha Elections: In 10th Lok Sabha election, JD candidate defeated Bharatiya Janta Party candidate with a difference of 13978 votes. Here, JD leader Gulam Mohammed Khan attained 201739 votes and Bharatiya Janta Party candidate V.P. Singhal bagged 187761 votes
  • 1989 Lok Sabha Elections: In Ninth Lok Sabha election, JD candidate had defeated Indian National Congress candidate by a margin of 81917 votes JD candidate Ghulam Mohd. Khan Haji had got 245760 while INC got Indra Mohini votes.
  • 1984 Lok Sabha Elections: In 8th Lok Sabha election, interesting battle could be seen between Indian National Congress and LKD here Indian National Congress candidate defeated his LKD counterpart with a difference of 7113 votes.
  • 1980 Lok Sabha Elections: In 7th Lok Sabha election, JNP(S) candidate defeated Indian National Congress candidate with a difference of 10467 votes. Here, JNP(S) leader Ghulam Mohammad Khan attained 103291 votes and Indian National Congress candidate Naubat Ram bagged 92824 votes
  • 1977 Lok Sabha Elections: In Sixth Lok Sabha poll, BLD candidate defated INC candidate in one-sided contest. Here, BLD candidate Gulam Mohd. Khan attained 196648 votes and INC's D.N. Sinha bagged 57797 votes.
  • 1971 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fifth Lok Sabha election, BJS candidate defeated IND candidate with a difference of 21428 votes. Here, BJS leader Virendra Agarwal attained 83077 votes and IND candidate Shamim Ahmad bagged 61649 votes
  • 1967 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fourth Lok Sabha election, BJS candidate defeated INC candidate with a difference of 27305 votes. Here, BJS leader O. P. T. Pursharthi attained 78497 votes and INC candidate M. S. Fakhri bagged 51192 votes
  • 1962 Lok Sabha Elections: In Third Lok Sabha election, REP candidate defeated JS candidate with a difference of 12033 votes. Here, REP leader Muzaffar attained 69171 votes and JS candidate Brij Bhusan Saran Bansal bagged 57138 votes
  • 1957 Lok Sabha Elections: In Second Lok Sabha election, interesting battle could be seen between Indian National Congress and IND here Indian National Congress candidate defeated his IND counterpart with a difference of 6356 votes.
