In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Bharatiya Janata Party won 27 out of the 29 parliamentary seat with 54 percent vote share while the Indian National Congress managed to win just 2 seats with a 34.9 percent vote share.

বেঙ্গালুরুতে কর্নাটকের মুখ্যমন্ত্রী এইচ ডি কুমারস্বামী জানিয়েছেন, তিনি নরেন্দ্র মোদির শপথ অনু্ষ্ঠানে হাজির থাকতে নয়াদিল্লি সফরের মধ্যে রাহুল গাঁধীর সঙ্গে দেখা করে তাঁকে কংগ্রেস সভাপতি পদে বহাল থাকার জন্য বোঝাবেন। ইতিমধ্যে ডিএমকে সভাপতি এম কে স্ট্যালিন, আরজেডি নেতা লালুপ্রসাদ যাদব সহ বেশ কিছু বিরোধী নেতা রাহুলকে ইস্তফা দেওয়া থেকে বিরত থাকার আবেদন করেছেন। এবার তাঁদের সুরেই কর্নাটকে কংগ্রেসের জোট শরিক জেডি(এস) নেতা কুমারস্বামী বললেন, ওঁকে চালিয়ে যেতে আবেদন করব। আগামীকাল দেখা হবে তাঁর সঙ্গে। লোকসভা ভোটে কর্নাটকে কংগ্রেস-জেডি (এস)-এর ভরাডুবির ধাক্কায় রাজ্যে সরকার বাঁচানোর চেষ্টাও করতে হচ্ছে জোটের নেতাদের। রাহুলের সঙ্গে কুমারস্বামীর আলোচনায় সেই প্রসঙ্গও উঠতে পারে। কর্নাটক কংগ্রেস রাহুলকে আবেদন করেছে, সভাপতি পদ ছাড়বেন না। বলেছে, আমরা হয়তো হেরেছি। কিন্তু আপনার নেতৃত্বে আমাদের আস্থা আছে। ভারতের আপনাকে প্রয়োজন।
