LS Polls Phase 6 Highlights: As voting concludes in 7 states, overall turnout recorded at 63.43%

New Delhi: The sixth phase of polling for Lok Sabha elections 2019 ended on Sunday where 59 constituencies in six states and Delhi went for voting in the penultimate sixth phase of the ongoing Lok Sabha polls. Voting took place on Sunday for 14 seats in Uttar Pradesh, all 10 in Haryana, eight each in West Bengal, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh, four in Jharkhand and all seven seats in Delhi.
In 2014, the BJP had won 45 of these seats, the Trinamool Congress 8, the Congress two and the Samajwadi Party and the LJP one seat each among others.
The fate of several Union ministers including Radha Mohan Singh, Harshvardhan and Maneka Gandhi, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav and Congress leaders Digvijay Singh and Jyotiraditya Scindia was decided today in the sixth and penultimate phase of Lok Sabha polls.
All seven parliamentary constituencies in Delhi went to polls where as many as 164 candidates were in the fray in the polls, which are largely been seen as a three-way contest among the BJP, Congress and AAP. Prominent candidates in the contest include, veteran Congress leader Sheila Dikshit, Olympian boxer Vijender Singh, Union minister Harsh Vardhan, cricketer-turned-politician Gautam Gambhir and Atishi from AAP.
34 out of 59 constituencies are red alert constituencies in the sixth phase. (Red alert constituencies are those constituencies where 3 or more contesting candidates have declared criminal cases against themselves)
