Latur: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Dr. Sunil Baliram Gaikwad from Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) won the elections by a margin of 253395 votes. The polling / voting in Latur constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 2 on 18 April. The major contest is between Bharatiya Janata Party#s Sudhakar Bhalerao Shrungare and Congress Party#s Machhlindra kamant

Latur 2014 Lok Sabha Polls

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Bharatiya Janata Party won 23 out of the 48 parliamentary seat with 27.3 percent vote share while the Shiv Sena managed to win just 18 seats with a 20.6 percent vote share.

Out of the 18 Lok Sabha candidates who contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Latur, 16 had to deposit their security. The voters gave their mandate in favour of Dr. Sunil Baliram Gaikwad of the Bharatiya Janta Party as he defeated Bansode Dattatray Gunderao by a margin of 253395 votes.

• 1999 Lok Sabha Elections: In 13th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated Bharatiya Janta Party candidate with a difference of 40290 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Patil Shivraj Vishwanath attained 314213 votes and Bharatiya Janta Party candidate Dr Gopalrao Vitthlrao Patil bagged 273923 votes
• 1998 Lok Sabha Elections: In 12th Lok Sabha election, interesting battle could be seen between Indian National Congress and Bharatiya Janta Party here Indian National Congress candidate defeated his Bharatiya Janta Party counterpart with a difference of 3327 votes.
• 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated Bharatiya Janta Party candidate by a margin of 79372 votes INC candidate Shivraj Vishwanath Patil had got 279775 while BJP got Patil Gopalrao Vithalrao votes.
• 1991 Lok Sabha Elections: In 10th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated Bharatiya Janta Party candidate by a margin of 58718 votes INC candidate Patil Shivraj Vishwanath had got 237853 while BJP got Gopalrao Vithalrao Patil votes.
• 1989 Lok Sabha Elections: In Ninth Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated JD candidate with a difference of 43855 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Patil Shivraj Vishwanath attained 304733 votes and JD candidate Bapu Kaldate bagged 260878 votes
• 1984 Lok Sabha Elections: In 8th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated ICS candidate by a margin of 85537 votes INC candidate Patil Shivraj Vishwanath had got 289466 while ICS got Padmasinha Bajirao Patil votes.
• 1980 Lok Sabha Elections: In 7th Lok Sabha poll, Indian National Congress candidate defated Independent candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC(I) candidate Shivraj Vishwanath Patil attained 253948 votes and IND's Sonavane Manikrao Sitaram bagged 64081 votes.
• 1977 Lok Sabha Elections: In Sixth Lok Sabha election, interesting battle could be seen between PWP and INC here PWP candidate defeated his INC counterpart with a difference of 7851 votes.
• 1971 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fifth Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated SSP candidate by a margin of 91494 votes INC candidate Tulshiram Dashrath Kamble had got 156771 while SSP got Tukaram Sadashiv Shingare votes.
• 1967 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fourth Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated RPI candidate with a difference of 38674 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader T. D. Kamble attained 125896 votes and RPI candidate M. Mangaldas bagged 87222 votes
• 1962 Lok Sabha Elections: In Third Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated REP candidate by a margin of 61391 votes INC candidate Tulsiram Dashrath had got 134395 while REP got Harihar Nagorao votes.
