Background

Jhunjhunu: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Santosh Ahlawat from Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) won the elections by a margin of 233835 votes. The polling / voting in Jhunjhunu constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 5 on 6 May. The major contest is between Bharatiya Janata Party#s Narendra Khinchal and Congress Party#s Shrawan kumar

Jhunjhunu 2014 Lok Sabha Polls

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Bharatiya Janata Party won 25 out of the 25 parliamentary seat with 54.9 percent vote share while the Indian National Congress managed to win just seats with a 30.4 percent vote share.

  • 1999 Lok Sabha Elections: In 13th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated Bharatiya Janta Party candidate by a margin of 76348 votes INC candidate Sisram Ola had got 330198 while BJP got Banwari Lal Saini votes.
  • 1998 Lok Sabha Elections: In 12th Lok Sabha election, AIIC(S) candidate defeated Bharatiya Janta Party candidate with a difference of 37859 votes. Here, AIIC(S) leader Sisram Ola attained 338526 votes and Bharatiya Janta Party candidate Madan Lal Saini bagged 300667 votes
  • 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha election, AIIC(T) candidate defeated Bharatiya Janta Party candidate with a difference of 12799 votes. Here, AIIC(T) leader Shees Ram Ola attained 270049 votes and Bharatiya Janta Party candidate Matu Ram Saini bagged 257250 votes
  • 1991 Lok Sabha Elections: In 10th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated Bharatiya Janta Party candidate with a difference of 20254 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Ayub Khan attained 213903 votes and Bharatiya Janta Party candidate Madan Lal Saini bagged 193649 votes
  • 1989 Lok Sabha Elections: In Ninth Lok Sabha poll, JD candidate defated Indian National Congress candidate in one-sided contest. Here, JD candidate Jagdeep Jhankar attained 421686 votes and INC's Mohd. Ayub Khan bagged 259705 votes.
  • 1984 Lok Sabha Elections: In 8th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated LKD candidate by a margin of 57306 votes INC candidate Mohd. Ayub Khan had got 261152 while LKD got Sumitra Singh votes.

  • 1967 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fourth Lok Sabha election, SWA candidate defeated INC candidate with a difference of 46573 votes. Here, SWA leader R. K. Birla attained 150596 votes and INC candidate M. R. S. R. Kumar bagged 104023 votes
  • 1962 Lok Sabha Elections: In Third Lok Sabha election, interesting battle could be seen between Indian National Congress and SWA here Indian National Congress candidate defeated his SWA counterpart with a difference of 3460 votes.
