Jamshedpur: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Bidyut Baran Mahato from Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) won the elections by a margin of 99876 votes. The polling / voting in Jamshedpur constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 6 on 12 May. The major contest is between Bharatiya Janata Party#s Vidhyut Varan Mahato and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha#s Champai Soren

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Bharatiya Janata Party won 12 out of the 14 parliamentary seat with 40.1 percent vote share while the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha managed to win just 2 seats with a 9.3 percent vote share.

Out of the 15 Lok Sabha candidates who contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Jamshedpur, 13 had to deposit their security. The voters gave their mandate in favour of Bidyut Baran Mahato of the Bharatiya Janta Party as he defeated Ajay Kumar by a margin of 99876 votes.

  • 2004 Lok Sabha Elections: In 14th Lok Sabha poll, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha candidate defated Bharatiya Janta Party candidate in one-sided contest. Here, JMM candidate Sunil Kumar Mahato attained 396056 votes and BJP's Abha Mahto bagged 290423 votes.
  • 1999 Lok Sabha Elections: In 13th Lok Sabha poll, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate defated Indian National Congress candidate in one-sided contest. Here, BJP candidate Abha Mahato attained 285232 votes and INC's Ghanashyam Mahato bagged 163744 votes.
  • 1998 Lok Sabha Elections: In 12th Lok Sabha election, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate had defeated Independent candidate by a margin of 97433 votes BJP candidate Abha Mahato had got 296686 while IND got Russi Modi votes.
  • 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha election, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate had defeated JD candidate by a margin of 55137 votes BJP candidate Bhardwaj Nitish Janardan had got 221702 while JD got Inder Singh Namdhari votes.
  • 1991 Lok Sabha Elections: In 10th Lok Sabha election, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha candidate had defeated Bharatiya Janta Party candidate by a margin of 56247 votes JMM candidate Silendra Mahto had got 205296 while BJP got Amrendra Pratap Singh votes.
  • 1989 Lok Sabha Elections: In Ninth Lok Sabha election, interesting battle could be seen between Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and Indian National Congress here Jharkhand Mukti Morcha candidate defeated his Indian National Congress counterpart with a difference of 8884 votes.
  • 1984 Lok Sabha Elections: In 8th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated Communist Party of India (Marxist) candidate by a margin of 66202 votes INC candidate Gopeshwar had got 196965 while CPI got Tikaram Manjhi votes.
  • 1980 Lok Sabha Elections: In 7th Lok Sabha election, JNP candidate defeated JNP candidate with a difference of 10457 votes. Here, JNP leader Rudra Pratap Sarangi attained 91847 votes and JNP candidate V.G. Gopal bagged 81390 votes
  • 1977 Lok Sabha Elections: In Sixth Lok Sabha election, BLD candidate had defeated INC candidate by a margin of 63753 votes BLD candidate Rudra Pratap Sarangi had got 131419 while INC got V. G. Gopal votes.
  • 1971 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fifth Lok Sabha election, interesting battle could be seen between Indian National Congress and CPI; here Indian National Congress candidate defeated his CPI counterpart with a difference of 206 votes.
  • 1967 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fourth Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated CPI candidate with a difference of 40702 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader S. C. Prasad attained 75219 votes and CPI candidate U. Mishra bagged 34517 votes
  • 1962 Lok Sabha Elections: In Third Lok Sabha election, Communist Party of India (Marxist) candidate defeated INC candidate with a difference of 19805 votes. Here, Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Udaikar Mishra attained 75000 votes and INC candidate N. C. Mukherjee bagged 55195 votes
  • 1957 Lok Sabha Elections: In Second Lok Sabha election, interesting battle could be seen between Indian National Congress and JHP here Indian National Congress candidate defeated his JHP counterpart with a difference of 9603 votes.

সারা দেশে কংগ্রেসের নির্বাচনী বিপর্যয়ের পরিপ্রেক্ষিতে শনিবার বসছে ওয়ার্কিং কমিটি। হারের কারণ খুঁজতে আলোচনা হবে সেখানে। সূত্রের খবর, সকাল ১১টায় বৈঠক ডাকা হয়েছে কংগ্রেস ওয়ার্কিং কমিটির। কংগ্রেসের সর্বোচ্চ সিদ্ধান্ত গ্রহণকারী মঞ্চ ওয়ার্কিং কমিটি। রাহুল গাঁধী বৈঠকে কংগ্রেস সভাপতি থেকে ইস্তফা দেওয়ার কথা বলতে পারেন বলে সূত্রের দাবি। সনিয়া গাঁধী, মনমোহন সিংহও হাজির থাকতে পারেন বৈঠকে। ইতিমধ্যে দলের ভিতরে কেন কংগ্রেস মানুষের কাছে পৌঁছতে ব্যর্থ হল, তা খতিয়ে দেখার দাবি ইতিমধ্যেই উঠেছে। এই নিয়ে টানা দুবার বিজেপির হাতে পর্যুদস্ত হল কংগ্রেস।
