Jamnagar: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Poonamben Hematbhai Maadam from Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) won the elections by a margin of 175289 votes. The polling / voting in Jamnagar constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 3 on 23 April. The major contest is between Bharatiya Janata Party#s Mrs. Punamben Madam and Congress Party#s Murubhai kandoriya

Jamnagar 2014 Lok Sabha Polls

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Bharatiya Janata Party won 26 out of the 26 parliamentary seat with 60.11 percent vote share while the Indian National Congress managed to win just seats with a 33.45 percent vote share.

Out of the 25 Lok Sabha candidates who contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Jamnagar, 23 had to deposit their security. The voters gave their mandate in favour of Poonamben Hematbhai Maadam of the Bharatiya Janta Party as he defeated Ahir Vikrambhai Arjanbhai Madam by a margin of 175289 votes.

Here, Bharatiya Janta Party leader Koradiya Chandreshbhai Valjibhai (Chandresh Patel) attained 190726 votes and Indian National Congress candidate Patel Raghavji Hansrajbhai bagged 154957 votes
  • 1998 Lok Sabha Elections: In 12th Lok Sabha election, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate had defeated Indian National Congress candidate by a margin of 60119 votes BJP candidate Koradia Chandreshbhai Valjibhai (Chandresh Patel) had got 231124 while INC got Ahir Bhikhubhai Varotaria votes.
  • 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha election, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate defeated Indian National Congress candidate with a difference of 21747 votes. Here, Bharatiya Janta Party leader Koradia Chandreshbhai Valjibhai(C.Patel) attained 156540 votes and Indian National Congress candidate Ahir Bhikhubhai Varotaria bagged 134793 votes
  • 1991 Lok Sabha Elections: In 10th Lok Sabha election, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate defeated JD(G) candidate with a difference of 46720 votes. Here, Bharatiya Janta Party leader Kordiya Chandresh Kumar Valjibhai attained 178027 votes and JD(G) candidate Urmilaben Chimanbhai Patel (Dr. Urimila Ben Patel) (W) bagged 131307 votes
  • 1989 Lok Sabha Elections: In Ninth Lok Sabha election, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate defeated Indian National Congress candidate with a difference of 45574 votes. Here, Bharatiya Janta Party leader Koradiya Chandresh Kumar Valjibhai (Chandresh Patel) attained 182356 votes and Indian National Congress candidate Dolatsinh Pratapsinh bagged 136782 votes
  • 1984 Lok Sabha Elections: In 8th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated Independent candidate with a difference of 23090 votes.   • 1967 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fourth Lok Sabha election, SWA candidate defeated INC candidate with a difference of 13033 votes. Here, SWA leader N. Dandekar attained 111636 votes and INC candidate M.M. Shah bagged 98603 votes
  • 1962 Lok Sabha Elections: In Third Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated SWA candidate by a margin of 74152 votes INC candidate Manubhai Mansukhlal Shah had got 122628 while SWA got Maganlal Bhagwanji Joshi votes.

LS elections: 80.5 per cent polling registered in Pondy: Puducherry registered 80.5 per cent polling in the election to the lone Lok Sabha seat Thursday. Chief Electoral officer V Candavelou told reporters it was only a tentative figure and percentage of polling might go up as polling was going in some booths.
