Background

Hindupur: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Kristappa Nimmala from Telugu Desam Party (TDP) won the elections by a margin of 97325 votes. The polling / voting in Hindupur constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 1 on 11 April. The major contest is between Telugu Desam Party#s Nimmala Kristappa and YSR Congress Party#s Gorantla Madhav

Hindupur 2014 Lok Sabha Polls

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Telugu Desam Party won 15 out of the 25 parliamentary seat with 29.1 percent vote share while the YSR Congress Party managed to win just 8 seats with a 28.9 percent vote share.

Voter turnout in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections in Hindupur Lok Sabha Lok Sabha constituency. The total voter turnout was 81.39% Lok Sabha percent with 81.94% Lok Sabha percent male voters turning out to cast their votes. Meanwhile, 80.82% Lok Sabha percent of the women voters cast their votes and 8189 Lok Sabha voters pressed on the NOTA

Out of the 12 Lok Sabha candidates who contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Hindupur, 10 had to deposit their security. The voters gave their mandate in favour of Kristappa Nimmala of the Telugu Desam Party as he defeated Duddukunta Sreedhar Reddy by a margin of 97325 votes.

  • 1998 Lok Sabha Elections: In 12th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated Telugu Desam Party candidate with a difference of 26138 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader S.Gangadhar attained 284096 votes and Telugu Desam Party candidate S.Ramachandra Reddy bagged 257958 votes
  • 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha poll, Telugu Desam Party candidate defated Indian National Congress candidate in one-sided contest. Here, TDP candidate S.Ramachandra Reddy attained 353880 votes and INC's S.Gangadhar bagged 181458 votes.
  • 1991 Lok Sabha Elections: In 10th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated Telugu Desam Party candidate by a margin of 99113 votes INC candidate S. Gangadhara had got 317078 while TDP got K. Ramachandra Reddy votes.
  • 1989 Lok Sabha Elections: In Ninth Lok Sabha election, interesting battle could be seen between Indian National Congress and Telugu Desam Party here Indian National Congress candidate defeated his Telugu Desam Party counterpart with a difference of 2168 votes.
  • 1984 Lok Sabha Elections: In 8th Lok Sabha poll, Telugu Desam Party candidate defated Indian National Congress candidate in one-sided contest. Here, TDP candidate K. Ramachandra Reddy attained 349239 votes and INC's D. Reddappa Reddy bagged 193902 votes.
  • 1980 Lok Sabha Elections: In 7th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated JNP candidate by a margin of 78439 votes INC(I) candidate P. Bayapa Reddy had got 172401 while JNP got K. Rama Chandra Reddi votes.
  • 1977 Lok Sabha Elections: In Sixth Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated BLD candidate by a margin of 90033 votes INC candidate P. Bayapa Reddy had got 236797 while BLD got K. Ramachandra Reddy votes.
  • 1971 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fifth Lok Sabha poll, Indian National Congress candidate defated NCO candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC candidate P. Bayapa Reddy attained 198127 votes and NCO's P. Ravindra Reddy bagged 74117 votes.
  • 1967 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fourth Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated SWA candidate with a difference of 42236 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader S. R. Neelam attained 144438 votes and SWA candidate K. V. S. Reedy bagged 102202 votes
  • 1962 Lok Sabha Elections: In Third Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated IND candidate with a difference of 29042 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader K.V. Ramakrishna Reddy attained 89521 votes and IND candidate Erukalappa bagged 60479 votes
  • 1957 Lok Sabha Elections: In Second Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated PSP candidate with a difference of 26488 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader K.V. Ramakrishna Reddy attained 66560 votes and PSP candidate K.S. Ragava Charyulu bagged 40072 votes
