UPSC CSE Prelims 2024 Exam Date Postponed Due To Lok Sabha Elections

As per the official schedule, the UPSC CSE Prelims Exam 2024 will now be held on June 16, 2024.

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has postponed the UPSC CSE (Civil Services Exam) Dates 2024 in the wake of the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2024. As per the revised date, the UPSC CSE Prelims Exam 2204 will be held on June 16, 2024. As per the previou schedule, the exam was slated to be held on May 26, 2024. The commission notified the postponement of the CSE Prelims exam date through an official notice on its website. 

“Due to the schedule of the impending General Election, the Commission has decided to postpone the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination – 2024 which also serves as screening test for Indian Forest Service Examination, 2024 from 26-05- 2024 to 16-06-2024,” reads a notice on the official website - upsc.gov.in, in this regard. 

Notably, the UPSC is conducting the UPSC CSE Exams 2024 to  fill around 1,056 officer level vacancies in various government departments.  The UPSC CSE exam will be held in two stages where registered candidates will be required to appear for the preliminary exam in the first stage. Those who clear the preliminary exam would be further called for the second stage which would consist of the Mains examination and Personal Interviews.

Earlier, the UPSC invited applications from interested and eligible candidates for the UPSC CSE till March 6, 2024, after extending the application deadline. Following the closure of the UPSC CSE Prelims 2024 registration cum application window, candidates were also allowed to make changes to their applications from March 6 to March 12, 2024. 

Notably, the Civil Service Exams are held every year by the Union Public Service Commission to induct suitable candidates as officers in various services of the government like Indian Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS), Indian Forest Services, and others.
