UP TGT Exam Postponed Again: New Dates Announced, Over 13 Lakh Candidates Affected

The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission has postponed the TGT recruitment examination again. Check out the new dates here.

The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission has postponed the TGT (Trained Graduate Teacher) recruitment examination again. Initially slated for May 14 and 15, the exam will now take place on July 21 and 22, confirmed Examination Controller Devendra Pratap Singh in a new notification.

The PGT (Post Graduate Teacher) recruitment exam remains unaffected and will be held as scheduled on June 18 and 19.

Why Was The UP TGT Exam Postponed?

Though the commission hasn't provided a specific reason for the delay, reports suggest the overwhelming number of applicants is straining logistical preparations. The challenge of setting up sufficient exam centres under strict regulatory guidelines has also been cited. The recruitment notification for 4163 TGT and PGT posts was released back in 2022, and candidates have now been waiting for nearly three years.

Candidate Count

  • TGT Posts: 3,539
  • Applicants: 8.69 lakh
  • PGT Posts: 624
  • Applicants: 4.50 lakh
  • Total Candidates: 13.19 lakh

The exam has seen multiple schedule changes; It was first planned for April 4-5, then pushed back to May 14-15, and now it has been rescheduled for July.

Admit Card And Exam Day Requirements

Candidates will need to present a valid photo ID along with their admit card to enter the exam centre. While the official date for the admit card release hasn't been announced, media reports expect them to be available one week before the exam.
