New Delhi: The Union Cabinet has approved the affiliation of 100 government and private schools with the Sainik School society, under the Defence Ministry, PTI reported.  An official statement regarding this decision has been issued by the cabinet.


According to the statement, as many as 5000 students are likely to get admission in Class 6 from 2022-23 academic sessions onwards in the recently affiliated schools. Currently, around 33 Sainik Schools have the capacity to provide admission to nearly 3000 students in Class 6.

According to the PTI report, the union government is invited proposals from various government and private schools to seek affiliation with the Sainik School society.

"It is believed that integration of the Sainik Schools education system with regular board plus curriculum is expected to create academically strong, physically fit, culturally aware, intellectually, skilful youth and well-rounded citizens. The students from these Schools are envisioned to be equipped with necessary life skills which will make them shine in their chosen fields," the official statement quoted by PTI in its report.

Recently on Wednesday, a senior official from the Union Ministry of Defence informed Indian Express that the cabinet's decision of expanding Sainik Schools have received a "health and encouraging response."
