TS Inter Results 2019 debacle: KCR announces free re-counting, re-verification following student suicides

As many as ten students in the state of Telangana have committed suicide ever since TSBIE had announced Telangana Board 1st and 2nd Year Exam Results 2019.

TS Inter Results 2019: As many as ten students in the state of Telangana have committed suicide ever since Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education (TSBIE) had announced Telangana Board 1st and 2nd Year Exam Results 2019 on Thursday, 18th April 2019, last week. Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has issued a notice ordering TSBIE to facilitate free re-verification and re-counting of answer sheets of approximately three lakh students who’ve been declared failed as per TS Inter Results 2019. KCR described the student suicides as “highly saddening” and “most unfortunate” and aptly stated in the press release that, “no student should resort to committing suicide as failing in intermediate is not meant to end the life.” “According to one’s own interest and capacity one should make use of opportunities and identify a profession of their liking. They should stand up in life and be courageous. If you commit suicide you will be leaving behind a lot of sorrow to the parents. I appeal to every student not to commit suicide,” urged the Telangana CM to students. A probe has been ordered into the alleged goof-up in the evaluation of answer sheets by the Telangana Board of Intermediate Education after students and parents staged protests outside its headquarters in Nampally, Hyderabad. KCR has sorted Minister of Education, Jagadish Reddy to submit a report within two days on what led to the goof up in TS Inter Results 2019. The Chief Minister has also directed TSBIE to expedite the re-valuation and re-verification process and arrange for supplementary exams at the earliest to calm down the agitated public and save one year of students. The conduct and results declaration of supplementary exams will also be accelerated as students will require a passing certificate for meeting NEET and JEE 2019 guidelines. “This year 9.74 lakhs of students appeared for the intermediate examination. Out of these 3.28 lakhs failed in the examination. Some students and their parents are of the opinion that during the process of addition of marks mistakes took place resulting in less marks than expected and hence they failed,” read the press note. The press release further added, “This is the reason why the facility has to be provided for re-verification of papers of failed students free of cost. The Re-verification could be done in the subject in which the student failed and in the same Re-counting would also be done.”
