Tripura Plans On Resuming Classes From June 15; Instructs Schools To Arrange Sanitizers

State Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath on Sunday said all schools would be properly sanitized before classes resume from June 15.

Tripura government has started to draw out an action plan for resuming academic sessions in schools soon. State Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath on Sunday said the state government is planning to resume academic sessions in schools from June 15. He said all schools would be properly sanitized before classes resume. With the outbreak of Coronavirus, the Central government had enforced a nationwide lockdown on March 25 and instructed all educational institutes to remain shut in order to contain the spread of the deadly disease. After almost two months of complete shut, Centre has allowed the State government to wisely lift up some restrictions after assessing the COVID19 situation in their respective states. Till date, Tripura has recorded a total of 189 cases of which, 153 patients have already recovered and been discharged from hospitals. Following the guidelines and directives issued by the Centre, the state government said before resuming classes, complete measures will be taken to ensure the safety of all. "We are planning to open schools from June 1 and resume classes from June 15. Before we start academic sessions all schools would be sanitized properly and supply of drinking water would be ensured. We would also announce their results before resuming the classes," Education Minister Nath said. He further said that evaluations of the answer sheets of class 10 and class 12 exams which were held before lockdown had already started. Speaking of the measures and initiatives that state has planned for ensuring the safety of students, teachers and other staff, Nath told that all school authorities have been instructed to arrange for sanitizers, gloves and masks for the cooks of the Mid Day meal and soaps and sanitizers for students. He also mentioned that the state will be spending altogether Rs 1.35 crore to sanitize the schools.
