School Holidays Extended In Haryana Till January 27 Due To Cold Wave

Due to the cold wave and severe cold in Haryana, the holidays of students from classes 1 to 5 have been extended.

The Haryana state government has declared a holiday for students of classes 1 to 5. Schools are scheduled to remain shut until January 27, 2024, owing to the prevailing severe cold weather conditions in the region. It is important to note that both government and private schools will remain closed. However, as per the official notification, teaching and non-teaching staff are expected to report to school as usual despite the closure for students.

''Due to the cold wave and severe cold conditions in the state of Haryana, holidays for students from the first to the fifth grade in schools have been extended until January 27, 2024,'' Haryana State Education Minister Kanwar Pal Gujar said in a post on X. 

The Chandigarh administration has also extended an extra week of vacation for students up to class 5. However, for higher grades, schools have the discretion to resume classes after implementing essential safety measures to safeguard students from the harsh cold weather. According to the official order, schools must conclude activities by 4 pm and are not permitted to commence before 9:30 am.

Schools In These Districts Of UP Closed Till January 27

Due to the severe cold weather, dense fog and harsh climatic conditions, schools in Lucknow and Agra have been temporarily shut down for students from classes 1 to 8. The District Magistrates have issued orders for the closure of schools in Lucknow until January 27, 2024 and in Agra until January 24, 2024. In Lucknow, the District Magistrate's directive includes the closure of all schools from nursery to 12 with a shift to online mode. In Agra, the District Magistrate has specified that schools from nursery to class 8 will remain closed until January 24, 2024. Additionally, there has been a change in the timings for classes 9 to 12, which will now be conducted from 10:30 am to 3:30 pm in Agra.
