Seerat Baji, hailing from Kanthol village in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district secured an All India Rank of 516 in the UPSC CSE 2023 exams in her second attempt.

UPSC rank holder, Seerat Baji received a warm welcome at her home in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri on Monday after she secured an All India Rank (AIR) of 516 in the UPSC CSE 2023 examinations. Hailing from the remote village of Kanthol, about 70 kilometres from Rajouri, Seerat cracked the examination in her second attempt.

The UPSC rank holder said that a lot of girls are now coming forward from the area and performing well in every field. She also said that every time the toppers list is out, at least one girl from the region is expected to make it on the list.

"A lot of girls are coming forward from here... They are performing very well in every field. In the last few years it has been seen that every year, whenever the list is out, it is expected that there would be at least one girl from this area," she said while speaking to news agency ANI.

"This inspires other parents to push their daughters. This is how the environment changes...," she added.

Seerat's father, Mushtaq Baji said that her family used to boost her spirit whenever she would be in low spirits and inspired her to go for IAS since the beginning.

He also requested other parents to let their daughters study instead of marrying them off.

"We had been inspiring her to go for IAS since the beginning. We used to boost her whenever she lost spirit... Many daughters in our community are talented...," Mushtaq said.
