It is to be noted that the NTA calculates JEE Main 2023 scores based on the candidate's performance in the exam. If a candidate appears in multiple sessions, the best score out of both attempts will be considered for the preparation of the merit list and ranking. The raw scores obtained by the candidate will be normalized to derive the NTA scores, and the scores for each subject, as well as the overall score, will be mentioned on the JEE scorecard.

In case of a tie between two or more candidates, NTA uses a tie-breaking method to determine the final ranks. The marking scheme for JEE Main 2023 awards four marks for every correct answer, and one mark will be deducted for every wrong answer. However, for numerical value-based questions, there will be no negative marking in JEE Main 2023 session 2 exam.

The JEE Main Results will determine the eligibility of students to appear for the JEE Advanced 2023 examination, which is scheduled to be conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati on June 4, 2023. The ranks and cut-offs released along with JEE Main Session 2 results will determine whether the students will be able to appear for the exam in June or not.
