Over 40 Lakh New Students Enrolled In UP Govt Schools: CM Adityanath

UP CM Yogi Adityanath said that the state government deposits a sum of Rs 1,200 in the bank account of parents of every student for bag, book, shoe, sock and sweater.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday said that the state government has put up extensive efforts to improve the quality of education in the state and help remove social inequality. In his response to a question asked by an independent member Akash Agrawal during the  Question Hour in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council, Yogi Adityanath said that the efforts and consistent push by the state government in the past years to uplift the overall quality of education in the state is not hidden to anyone. 

The UP Chief Minister further added that under the ‘Kayakalp’ abhiyan, the state government has consistently worked towards revamping the infrastructure of 1,32,000 schools involved in imparting basic education. He further underlined that more than 40 lakh children have enrolled in Uttar Pradesh government schools across the state. 

He further underlined that all government school students across the state are being provided with bags, books, shoes, socks and sweaters. The state government is also making efforts to implement the CBSE curriculum in the UP Board as well, in a phased manner, Adityanath was further reported as saying by news agency PTI.

He further said that when the Basic Education Council is providing the same curriculum, students in the state no longer need to go to private schools. The state government at present runs the ‘School Chalo’ campaign in April and July, he said. 

The enrolment of over 40 lakh new children to the state’s Basic Education Department underlines the positive outcomes of the continuous efforts made by the state government, furthering the fulfillment of RTE, he added. In his response to another question in the house, UP CM Adityanath further stated that the UP government transfers Rs 1,200 in the bank account of parent’s of each student to help them arrange for bag, book, shoe, sock and sweater for their children.
