Noida: Schools Closed Up To Class 8 Till January 14 Due To Cold Weather

From now until January 14, the school hours for Classes 9 to 12 have been revised to 10 am to 3 pm.

Amidst dense fog and chilly weather, the Gautam Buddh Nagar administration has directed schools in Noida and Greater Noida to extend the holiday for students up to Class 8 until January 14. This directive, issued by District Basic Education Officer Rahul Panwar, applies to all schools recognised by the state board, CBSE, ICSE, IB, and other boards.

"In compliance with the instructions given by District Magistrate Maneesh Kumar Verma in view of the dense fog and extreme cold, all the board (CBSE/ICSE IB, UP Board and others) affiliated schools (from Class nursery to 8) running in the district Gautam Buddh Nagar, will observe holiday till January 14," the order stated.  "The order should be strictly followed," it added.

Some schools have informed parents about conducting online classes for students from nursery to class 8 until January 12.

Meanwhile, Dharmveer Singh, the District Inspector of Schools (DIOS) has announced that the revised timings for Classes 9 to 12 will be from 10 am to 3 pm during this period. The minimum temperatures in parts of western Uttar Pradesh have plunged to single-digit figures. In Gautam Buddh Nagar, the minimum temperature was recorded at 9 degrees Celsius on Saturday, and it's anticipated to remain between 9 and 13 degrees Celsius for the next six days.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for cold waves and fog in western Uttar Pradesh, including Gautam Buddh Nagar. According to a sub-divisional warning from the IMD, cold wave conditions, accompanied by fog, are expected for Saturday and Sunday, followed by thunderstorms, lightning, squalls, and fog on Tuesday.

Rajasthan Schools Up To Class 8 To Be Closed Till January 13

The Rajasthan government has declared a winter break for primary school students due to the ongoing cold weather conditions. All schools in Rajasthan, including both private and public institutions, will remain closed until January 13, 2024, affecting students from Kindergarten to Class 8.

In view of the increasing severity of winter, academic work in Rajasthan government, non-government aided and private schools till Class 8 have been ordered to halt till January 13, a government statement said.
